Three Minute Dates- Caritas- Saturday before 8:15 pm

It was that time agaaaaaain! There was a sign on the door and a banner above the stage.

THREE MINUTE DATES

Or maybe, perchance, you totally missed it somehow, and didn't run from the bar before Tino could sign you up for dates. It happens!

And then a few minutes before 8:00, Kitty took the stage under the banner, to a drumroll from the zombie drummer.

"Hello and welcome to another installment of Three Minute Dates!" Kitty began. "In case you're new to this, in a couple minutes I'm going to call out sets of names. You'll find that person, talk to them for a whole three minutes. When you hear this siren-" Oh, that was an obnoxious air horn sound. "-you'll get a new person to talk to. If you got sucked into this without your knowledge, sorry, and also it's fifteen minutes of your life, make some new friends!"

"Hi! I'm Kiem, I'm new here and I haven't been to one of these events before," he said, adding: "Obviously. Since I'm new."

Astrid had to laugh at the straight-forward, right-to-the-point approach as she set down. "Astrid," she offered back. "Definitely not new, and I've actually been to a lot of these before. You've really picked up on the urgency of getting all the information out as quickly as you can, though. Three minutes is definitely not a lot of time.

"You're in Kyōraku-san's class with me, though, right? You're the one who suggested a puppy army."

That was definitely something Astrid noticed and turned into a series of sketches later that day.

"Oh! Yes you are, and yes I did," Kiem said. "My mother would be horrified. She's a general in the Iskat military, so I was a bit worried that she had signed me up for the class, or even the Emperor, but considering out teacher that's probably not the case. Besides, they're probably happy just to have me out of the way."

He was babbling, yes, but at least he was cheerful?

Any hint of an overbearing mother was definitely going to get a sympathetic smile out of Astrid, but it went even more so in that direction by the end of that. That part hit a little harder, didn't it?

"I'm sure if she did sign you up for it," she said, "she did so not really knowing a whole lot about Kyōraku-san, he's one of the most gentle captains I've ever heard of. I even took a class from him about napping once."

"So far I really like him," Kiem said. "I've been lucky with most my classes, actually, even if they're... odd."

Once the shouting kid was gone.

"What else are you taking?" Astrid wondered, before offering, "And, yeah, you're definitely not going to find a boring cirriculum here at this school. Probably not very useful for college, but I'll take it over a regular high school where I'm from any day."

"Oh, there's Summer's class, did you know she killed an alien face-hugger with a toothpick?"

That had made an impression.

"Then there's a class with birds."

"I didn't know that about Summer, no," Astrid admitted, "but I'm not surprised. She's actually my boss, at the store. Well, technically, Kyōraku-san is, but everyone knows Summer actually runs the place.

"I didn't know about a bird class, though."

She sounded disappointed, actually, a bird class sounded nice! She could fill up so many sketchbooks with birds!

"Oh, the bird class isn't really about birds, but the birds keep showing up. I'm not sure if they're actually supposed to be there, but they're adorable."

They really were.

"Do you sell a lot of toothpicks?"
