Three Minute Dates- Caritas- Saturday before 8:15 pm

It was that time agaaaaaain! There was a sign on the door and a banner above the stage.

CARITAS PRESENTS
THREE MINUTE DATES

Or maybe, perchance, you totally missed it somehow, and didn't run from the bar before Tino could sign you up for dates. It happens!

And then a few minutes before 8:00, Kitty took the stage under the banner, to a drumroll from the zombie drummer.

"Hello and welcome to another installment of Three Minute Dates!" Kitty began. "In case you're new to this, in a couple minutes I'm going to call out sets of names. You'll find that person, talk to them for a whole three minutes. When you hear this siren-" Oh, that was an obnoxious air horn sound. "-you'll get a new person to talk to. If you got sucked into this without your knowledge, sorry, and also it's fifteen minutes of your life, make some new friends!"

Jon had no idea how he'd ended up signed up for this. He really did not like this island's penchant for dropping things in his lap; that had historically not gone well for him.

But Gladio - he knew Gladio! He did still owe him a shirt, but he'd been very pleasant before. So he wasn't clutching his drink too tightly as he made his way to the table.

Gladio had never had a problem meeting people, so he was pretty sure Prompto was just using that as an excuse when he suggested they all do this dating thing, but this could be fun! Even if things got weird like the last time they decided to do a thing together here at this bar!

He had to grin at his first date, too, laughing a little at how it seemed oddly fitting. "Jon!" he said, lifting his drink in greeting. "How've you been? You look good! Not covered in blood's really working out for you."

Jon huffed in laughter. "Yes, I'm rather fond of not being covered in blood. I am sorry about the shirt, though. How, um. You've been well, I hope."

Gladio probably could have looked like he cared even less about the shirt, but it was by a thin margin, and a shrugged his shoulder and shook his head. Shirts were very rarely something he bothered concerning himself with, and he'd probably be rid of 'em all together if given half the chance, really.

"I have," he then nodded, "yeah. Kinda getting settled in. Already had that first bit of Fandom weirdness and got a whole dog out of the situation."

There was definitely a story there, but they only had the three minutes.

"How about you? Now that it's been, what? Almost a month now since we first rode that Cup Noodle^TM into this place?"

Jon laughed outright at that. "Yes, the Cup Noodle was certainly something. "You have a dog now?"

Sorry, Jon was a pet person. He had to ask.

"In a way," Gladio grinned, as he allowed for the story to take its natural course after all. "Can't really keep one, actually, not between the roommate's cat here on the island and the nature of my job back home. But apparently, that week where everyone got a little funny because of those free drinks at the bar? I had a dog and two of my students...rightly so!....decided I wasn't fit to take care of one because I was a shouty ten year old bent on world domination. Anyway, whatever that was passes, and I don't even know if it's the same dog, but a dog looking a lot like Colonel Bahamutt," he was still stupid proud of that name, "shows up at the shelter where one of these kids works, so they bring 'em to me, all proud that they managed to find the dog because they thought they lost him even though I'm not sure he ever really existed in the first place, and I couldn't really just say no. So he's back home with my sister, which works out, because guess who always wanted a puppy growing up?"

"That sounds...I think I'm very glad I missed that evening at the bar. But at least you or your sister got a dog out of it." He smiled. "I'm really more a cat person myself, but dogs can also be lovely."

He hadn't had a cat in a while. He missed The Admiral.

"Well," Gladio said, "my roommate's got one of those, if you ever want to stop by, she seems to love attention, even if my other roommate will insist we're all spoiling her too much."

And Gladio would agree, but that definitely wasn't going to stop him from enjoying those few moments they'd had where Issa came and just curled up in his lap sometimes when he was reading. Sorry, Specs. That cat was just too darn cute not to spoil.

"There's no such thing as spoiling a cat too much," Jon proclaimed. "Cats deserve all the spoiling they can get." He smiled. "Ask one and I'm sure they'll tell you."

And Gladio had to laugh at that, especially considering the cat in question.

"Truer words," he decided, "have never been spoken."

And he had just enough time to get that observation out before the blast of the airhorn filled the air and he was a little surprised at how quickly those three minutes went, but, you know what? They weren't so bad at all.

"I guess that's it for us, then," he noted. "Good talking to you, Jon. I'll see you around."

Jon stood and nodded to him. "Yes, it was. See you."
