Three Minute Dates- Caritas- Saturday before 8:15 pm

It was that time agaaaaaain! There was a sign on the door and a banner above the stage.

CARITAS PRESENTS
THREE MINUTE DATES

Or maybe, perchance, you totally missed it somehow, and didn't run from the bar before Tino could sign you up for dates. It happens!

And then a few minutes before 8:00, Kitty took the stage under the banner, to a drumroll from the zombie drummer.

"Hello and welcome to another installment of Three Minute Dates!" Kitty began. "In case you're new to this, in a couple minutes I'm going to call out sets of names. You'll find that person, talk to them for a whole three minutes. When you hear this siren-" Oh, that was an obnoxious air horn sound. "-you'll get a new person to talk to. If you got sucked into this without your knowledge, sorry, and also it's fifteen minutes of your life, make some new friends!"

Goose took a seat at the table and waited. He had not expected to be doing these again after he had left Fandom and unless they had drastically changed since the last time he’d done one he more or less knew what to expect now at least.

And there was Ignis, come to join Goose at the table now that he'd acquired himself a glass of wine to get him through these proceedings and he offered a small smile. "Good to see you outside the context of a classroom and cooking," he greeted, "though I suppose it would be a bit gauche of me to open by asking how you've been finding the course so far?"

“Not at all,” he grinned, “It’s been quite enjoyable, I’ve never done any cooking before but my Commanding Officer thought it’d be a good idea to learn,” based on Goose's last few attempts, he might have had a valid point there.

And, based solely on his performance in the class thus far, Ignis was inclined to agree with Goose's Commanding Officer. He was hardly going to say that during such a brief social engagement, though, so, instead, he sipped his wine and delicately moved away from that topic, as such criticisms were probably best left to the classroom.

"Commanding Officer?" he asked. "So you're a military man. There's something we share in common."

Since it certainly wouldn't be cooking prowess!

If Goose got through the rest of the course without setting something on fire, that would be considered good progress for him.

He nodded, “I’m based with the Series 5 Galaxy Rangers Taskforce back home, it’s only been a recent assignment but I’ve been training for it for a while,” which was more or less the truth just avoiding the part about being a genetically engineered super soldier. “The situation’s back home a bit complicated so my Commanding Officer thought it would be good idea to send me back Fandom for a while til everything calmed down.” he explained, he paused and then asked, “how about you? What military do you serve with?”

"Crownsguard in the service of the Lucian royal family," Ignis answered, with a dutiful nod of his head and a faint, proud sort of smile, "and, of course, the citizenry of Lucis, as well. And Kingslaive, one day, when the crown prince takes the place of his father on the throne, but let us hope that that day is very far ahead in the future."

Even as he said it, it seemed to hold the ominous feeling of prophesy, but he tried to ignore that for now.

"But believe me, I'm well familiar with complicated situations in that regard. Have you always been interested in military service?"

Goose nodded, as he listened and then considered Ignis’ question.

“I suppose in a way I have,” he said, after a bit, “Commander Walsh, my Commanding Officer, I’ve known him my whole life so I guess he helped inspire my career path”, which was going to make things extremely awkward when he eventually found out about Walsh being his genetic donor, “I serve with a good team and we work well together, all things considered it could be worse,”

Ah, well, Ignis knew someone Goose could have a chat with if they wanted to talk about awkward genetic donors...

"A good team can make all the difference," Ignis agreed with a nod. "My own team is rather small and tight-knit, so anything short of that, I imagine, would be quite the disastrous mess."

They certainly weren't perfect, but it was hard to not feel a little pride over their dorky little squad.

Goose grinned, “absolutely,” he agreed, “it definitely helps make the missions easier that’s for sure, I didn’t think I’d be part of such a good team but I can’t imagine not being part of it now,”

And at that, Ignis couldn't help letting his eyes drift over toward a few other tables in the room with a faint, fond sort of smile on his face with a sentiment like that. "They do rather grow on you, don't they?"

And as his tone led into a musing expression, the air horn signalling the end of the round promptly changed it to a faint wince and a much more indulgent sort of smile.

"Well," he declared, "that's certainly not subtle, is it? And I assume that means our three minutes are up."
