Three Minute Dates- Caritas- Saturday before 8:15 pm

It was that time agaaaaaain! There was a sign on the door and a banner above the stage.

CARITAS PRESENTS
THREE MINUTE DATES

Or maybe, perchance, you totally missed it somehow, and didn't run from the bar before Tino could sign you up for dates. It happens!

And then a few minutes before 8:00, Kitty took the stage under the banner, to a drumroll from the zombie drummer.

"Hello and welcome to another installment of Three Minute Dates!" Kitty began. "In case you're new to this, in a couple minutes I'm going to call out sets of names. You'll find that person, talk to them for a whole three minutes. When you hear this siren-" Oh, that was an obnoxious air horn sound. "-you'll get a new person to talk to. If you got sucked into this without your knowledge, sorry, and also it's fifteen minutes of your life, make some new friends!"

[So much OCD incoming. OCD is up! Date away! A post for Caritas after the dates will go up Saturday!]

"You're right," Amaya agreed. "I don't think you have."

Which meant that Amaya's bottom had barely touched the seat of her chair before she was up again, so that she could extend out the hand that wasn't holding her ale out over the table.

"Amaya Blackstone," she offered along with the hand. "Town blacksmith. Sometimes teach shop class and about weapons. You need any metal work done, or any weapons, really, I'm your gal."

Amaya, it was three minute dates, not three minute sales pitches!

"Well, except maybe guns. Still working my way through those, really, although I've yet to meet a challenge I didn't like!"

Which wasn't true at all, but it sounded pretty good, right?

He'd shake her hand, but had to say, "Good to know. There is a distinct lack of need for weapons in my life but I'm okay with that."

It was actually preferred!

"Famous last words!" said Amaya, with a confident grin. But...not a weapons guy. That's alright! I do a lot of other things, too, like hardware and tools and..." She seemed to think about it for a second. "A lot of wrought iron lately, actually, which isn't really weird unless you think about it, but, hey! There's that, too. So what are you into? If not weapons?"

Almost as if weapons was apparently the only real option.

"I wrote a novel about zombies," Nick said. "So there's that."

Hey! There was something! And Amaya did like reading! Maybe not so much on zombies, she was more of an epic histories and famous battles type of reader, but she'd give it a try!

"Oh, yeah?" she asked with a little pique of intrigue. "Is it any good?"
gotyoucookie: (you sure?)

"Oh, no, it sucks," Nick scoffed, like somehow she should have known that. "But the important thing is, it's done."

You know what, though? Amaya could only actually appreciate his honesty in this case, and her next thought about the matter, she went ahead and just said outloud.

"You know," she mused, "I don't know what that says about me that you admitting that almost makes me want to read it more."

And, if anything, she was entirely convinced that it couldn't be any worse than what Kyōraku ran around calling a 'book,' which she'd read all of the first page of and promptly decided to just nope right out of that.

And if it was that bad?

OOOF.

"I don't know if I actually want anyone to see it, due to it being deeply personal." It was not. "But my next one..."

You know what? Framed like that, Nick was probably right. Amaya wasn't sure she cared to discover the ways in which a novel about zombies could be considered 'deeply personal.'

Especially not if it was in the same way that Kyōraku's novel had also, unfortunately, been...very deeply personal.

So she was just going to latch onto the opening at the end and throw it wide open.

"Oh, yeah? What's that one--"

Or at least try to, because it was just as she started to ask that the airhorn blasted in to interrupt her.

"...that one might have to wait for you to tell me about it some other time," she said, wondering if she'd managed to just dodge a bullet there. "Sounds like that's it for us."

"Till some other time," he said, toasting her with his drink before getting up.
