Three Minute Dates- Caritas- Saturday before 8:15 pm

It was that time agaaaaaain! There was a sign on the door and a banner above the stage.

CARITAS PRESENTS
THREE MINUTE DATES


Or maybe, perchance, you totally missed it somehow, and didn't run from the bar before Tino could sign you up for dates. It happens!

And then a few minutes before 8:00, Kitty took the stage under the banner, to a drumroll from the zombie drummer.

"Hello and welcome to another installment of Three Minute Dates!" Kitty began. "In case you're new to this, in a couple minutes I'm going to call out sets of names. You'll find that person, talk to them for a whole three minutes. When you hear this siren-" Oh, that was an obnoxious air horn sound. "-you'll get a new person to talk to. If you got sucked into this without your knowledge, sorry, and also it's fifteen minutes of your life, make some new friends!"


[So much OCD incoming. OCD is up! Date away! A post for Caritas after the dates will go up Saturday!]

Oh thank fuck, another person Ulysses couldn't remember from his school days. He was finally starting to feel a little less frazzled about the whole thing.

Or maybe that was just the drink in his hand.

"Hi, I'm Ulysses," he said, and even managed a tiny quirk of a smile. "How's it, uh, how's it going?"

"It's going!" Annie answered cheerfully, shrugging. "Did you sign yourself up for this on purpose, or did Tino or whatever get you, too? It's a fun way to meet people, anyway."

Again, Annie, you're blaming the wrong guy here. Does Tino really hate you? Does he hate you like Tiny does?

"On purpose, but..." He made a vague little gesture of 'eh' with his free hand. "Not with a lot of expectations, you know? Like, this is basically leaving everything up to like, really fast-paced chance."

They didn't need to get into any overthinking over a dude in LA he'd spilled at Illyana right before this whole thing got going, okay.

"Dating's always just leaving everything up to chance, though, isn't it?" Annie pointed out. "I mean, I guess with apps and stuff you can get all specific about preferences and stuff, but you could do worse as a meet-cute story than 'we met during a speed-dating event,' right?"

Not every couple can get together via mistaken identity and throwing one another into walls, after all.

Ulysses made another gesture with his hand. This one seemed to imply something like 'fair'. "I'm pretty sure most of my stories are worse meet-cutes."

He wasn't really a meet-cute kind of guy, despite the occasional aspiration in that direction.

"Any of these going, like, not-badly for you?" Annie asked, smiling. "Like, just to be up-front, I have a boyfriend, but have your other dates been good? I'm a great wingwoman and I know, like, everyone."

Or close to. Ulysses, at least, was her only date she didn't already know.

"Oh, cool," Ulysses said. (To the boyfriend part - sorry, Annie, but you seemed altogether too sweet for what he looked for in a wingwoman.) He shrugged. "I'm like, mostly gay, anyway."

He sighed and leaned back in his seat a little.

"Which means that that one guy who I actually remember as a teacher from going to school here, and two ladies - as lovely as you are - is not like the greatest luck I coulda had so far? But like also, maybe that's for the best?"

"It's a fun way to meet people!" Annie offered, tilting her head at the mostly part and resisting the urge to do that straight person thing of just thinking of who else she knew who was a dude who was into dudes so she could help. "But like, you went to school here? Recently? That has got to be so weird, being paired with a teacher."

This was going to be a theme with her, with her dates tonight.

"Yeah, I graduated like six years ago, only turns out it's only been like a couple of months here."

You know, that usual Fandom fuckery.

"Guess it's not really that much weirder than falling asleep in LA and waking up here but --" And there went the buzzer. Ulysses raised his glass a little. "Well, good luck I guess, or something, Annie."
