It was that time of year again! New people were here! New people to date, get to know, or perhaps make a mortal enemy of!

You never know.

Signs were hung up in front of the bar, both obviously, and easy to miss for anyone who might wander in and get signed up without their knowledge. Above the bar was a banner (in glitter):

TONIGHT!
THREE MINUTE DATES!
GOOD LUCK WBRURBODY

Your hostess wasn't gonna question it. And a few minutes before 8:00, she took the stage.

"Hello, everyone! And welcome to Three Minute Dates!" Kitty greeted them. "If you're new to this, the rules are simple. We call your name along with one other person. You talk to this person, get to know their likes, their loves, their dreams. After three minutes, a buzzer will sound-" Pause for the sound. "-and you'll hear your name paired with a different person. Et cetera. If there is anyone you'd like to talk to more, the bar will be open afterwards for drinks and conversation. Remember that any violence will get you transported into the pond, but also please don't attempt violence in order to flee, that is rude to the rest of your dates. Now I'm going to get off the stage. Have fun, and good luck..."

She trailed off, not going to attempt to pronounce the word on that sign.

Three minutes certainly wasn't much time, and though Shunsui was in absolutely no rush to get through the time that had been afforded to them, he certainly wasn't about to waste any minutes unnecessarily, either. So he started right in on it as soon as he drifted over to their tables.

"Ahhh, Yennefer-chan ♥," he said, with a reverent seeming bow of his head and a tip of his hat. "As much as I do so miss gracing your classroom, I must say I already prefer this opportunity to meet as peers ♥."

Two cups appeared in one hand, a bottle of sake in the other.

"Care for a drink, my dear ♥?"

Yennefer had come here for a drink, not...whatever this was, but in the midst of this she did find herself, and she would be a cad to turn down a few minutes' conversation (and, of course, a free drink). "Why, Shunsui," she purred, leaning forward a little and hello, cleavage. "I would be delighted. How have you been since last we met?"

And Shunsui did rather appreciate Yennifer's concessions to grace them all with those tidbits of conversation...and to grace him with that remarkable shift in posture. He wasted no time in pouring the sake into the cup and holding it out to her to pass it across the table.

"Ohhh," he then drawled, "there's certainly nothing thrilling or exciting to report, which is precisely how I prefer it, anyway ♥. Certainly not stuck back home, at the very least, despite my lieutenant's best efforts ♥. And how about yourself, Yennifer-chan ♥? And what knowledge will you be bestowing upon your lucky students this semester, mmmm ♥?"

Yennefer could be generous, especially in exchange for free alcohol.

She sighed. "I'm teaching a class on 'adventuring,' apparently, which is something I try to do as little of as possible." Yennefer, you recently hiked up a mountain to fight a dragon. "I had words with the moose, of course, but to no avail. And yourself? Keeping...well, not busy, I hope?" She got the feeling he would not enjoy that.

"Oh, no ♥," Shunsui assured her, with a small shake of his head and a laugh as he poured himself a cup of sake, as well. "Not busy. Never busy. Not if I can help it, so my condolences for the adventuring class. I'm glad to say that, in all my time here, I've only had but one instance of the moose thinking he was cute by giving me an odd class, but I have reason to believe it was not entirely his fault..."

It was a bit hard to explain, though, that it was probably his sword that did it.

"I've gone back to my roots here," he offered, "and I'm teaching about peace and pacifism again. Familiar, comfortable, something I'll admit I am rather good at, too ♥."

"Sounds boring," Yennefer admitted quite matter-of-factly, "but as long as you're happy, that's what matters, hmm?"

"It's very....soothing ♥," Shunsui assured her, with a chuckle. "Although when it comes to both battles and lessons, I prefer boring. Much easier to sneak in a nap, should I feel so inclined ♥." He threw in a wink, lifting his cup and taking a sip.

"I save the excitement for things far more worth my while ♥."

"It is so important to conserve one's resources for the things that really matter," Yennefer agreed.

Making fun of Jaskier really mattered to her, okay?

Yennefer took a sip of the sake, and then gave it an appreciative look. "This is very good. I don't think I've had this before." New forms of alcohol: always exciting!

"You've never had sake before?" asked Shunsui, feigning complete shock that was completely ruined by that persistent grin. "Yennifer-chan ♥! I have failed you entirely ♥!

"Though, I must admit," he added and now any attempt at anything other than suggestion had completely disappeared, "I am honored that I should be our first ♥."

"At my age I find there are so few firsts to be had," Yennefer sighed a touch overdramatically. "Thank Melitele for pleasant ones, hmm?"

"Oh, no, you certainly don't want to get me started on age, Yennifer-chan ♥," Shunsui said, holding his own on the overdramatic front, bested only on account of that persistent grin. "You barely look like you could be a day over two hundred...♥."

With that, and a slightly disparaging tick of his tongue at the sound, the buzzer went off, and Shunsui shook his head.

"Always too soon ♥," he said, "but it has been, as always, a delightdo find yourself wanting a bit more than just that meager little sip of sake..."

He threw her a wink as he slipped up out of the chair, smooth as could be.

"I have plenty more to share ♥."
