It was that time of year again! New people were here! New people to date, get to know, or perhaps make a mortal enemy of!

You never know.

Signs were hung up in front of the bar, both obviously, and easy to miss for anyone who might wander in and get signed up without their knowledge. Above the bar was a banner (in glitter):

TONIGHT!
THREE MINUTE DATES!
GOOD LUCK WBRURBODY

Your hostess wasn't gonna question it. And a few minutes before 8:00, she took the stage.

"Hello, everyone! And welcome to Three Minute Dates!" Kitty greeted them. "If you're new to this, the rules are simple. We call your name along with one other person. You talk to this person, get to know their likes, their loves, their dreams. After three minutes, a buzzer will sound-" Pause for the sound. "-and you'll hear your name paired with a different person. Et cetera. If there is anyone you'd like to talk to more, the bar will be open afterwards for drinks and conversation. Remember that any violence will get you transported into the pond, but also please don't attempt violence in order to flee, that is rude to the rest of your dates. Now I'm going to get off the stage. Have fun, and good luck..."

She trailed off, not going to attempt to pronounce the word on that sign.

"Hey, Charlie!" Graham couldn't help grinning broadly to hear who his next date was, but, grin growing a little crooked, he seemed to belatedly remember his manners and stopped for a moment to lift his cap and duck his head. "M'lady," he said. "How doth the loveliest of radio listeners fare of this grand evening of Many Dates?"

"Graham!" Oh this was going to be delightful! She did a tiny little in-your-chair curtsey and grinned at him. "I'm doing quite well, my delightfully handsome Lord of the Radio. Better seeing you, of course. How are you doing?"

"Ohhhh, Lord of the Radio," Graham said, after taking a moment to just sort of revel in and maybe go just a touch more red at that 'better seeing you' bit. "I like that one, you should keep it! And I'm going great! This has been so much fun! It's almost a little sad, thinking it's almost over, but I'm really glad I wound up with you for one of my rounds! It...," that red found itself deepening as Graham realized what was about to tumble out of his mouth, but it was, of course, much too late to stop it now, "...would have been kind of sad, really, if we didn't get matched up."

"I'm glad we got matched up, too," Charlie said honestly, even if it was adorable watching him get a bit flustered. "I'm all over meeting new people, but there's something to be said about gettng to spend time with someone you know and like already. And you always make me smile."

"And that's a really good quality," said Graham eagerly, "to have in a friend! That they can make you smile." And he grinned, to let her know that, clearly, she managed to inspire the same thing in him.

Not that it was particularly hard to get him to smile, but still!

"You have a really nice smile, too," he felt compelled to add. "I hope you've had the chance to use it a lot tonight, as well!"

And he laughed. "I think I've smiled so much tonight, my cheeks are going to hurt in the morning! I might have to do some frowns, just to sort of balance things out."

"Yes, it is," Charlie agreed. "And you obviously have a wonderful smile, so please don't practice frowning. We can get you some ice or something to help with the swelling from smiling."
