Caritas- Saturday before 8:15 pm

It was that time of year again! New people were here! New people to date, get to know, or perhaps make a mortal enemy of!

You never know.

Signs were hung up in front of the bar, both obviously, and easy to miss for anyone who might wander in and get signed up without their knowledge. Above the bar was a banner (in glitter):

TONIGHT!
THREE MINUTE DATES!
GOOD LUCK WBRURBODY

Your hostess wasn't gonna question it. And a few minutes before 8:00, she took the stage.

"Hello, everyone! And welcome to Three Minute Dates!" Kitty greeted them. "If you're new to this, the rules are simple. We call your name along with one other person. You talk to this person, get to know their likes, their loves, their dreams. After three minutes, a buzzer will sound-" Pause for the sound. "-and you'll hear your name paired with a different person. Et cetera. If there is anyone you'd like to talk to more, the bar will be open afterwards for drinks and conversation. Remember that any violence will get you transported into the pond, but also please don't attempt violence in order to flee, that is rude to the rest of your dates. Now I'm going to get off the stage. Have fun, and good luck..."

She trailed off, not going to attempt to pronounce the word on that sign.

“Oh that’s good, especially if you’re learning a lot about the clinic. That must be pretty exciting, getting to work there,” Guillermo told her.

“and my classes have been pretty good so far this semester,” he paused as he thought back to the ones he was taking, “I think the beginner's guide to being a hero class looks like it will be pretty exciting and maybe learning how to fight as well?”

He realised he hadn’t told Libby about discovering about his Van Helsing heritage but that would be a lot to get into in such a short space of time that they had left.

A lot of the context would be pretty lost on her, anyway.

"Oh," said Libby, "I don't think I could take one of those fighting classes. I think I prefer to keep my combat to the make-believe stories and role-playing. But I can definitely see how it could be a really useful skill to have, and being a hero, that sounds pretty thrilling as well! I bet you're learning a lot of useful stuff there."

“I’m still not sure on the fighting stuff myself,” Guillermo admitted since he knew he didn’t look like he could be a very good fighter, “but I think it could be something useful in the future,” he admitted, “it’s certainly interesting learning different techniques though, I mean I hope I never have to use them but at least I’ll be prepared just in case right?”

He really had no idea just how useful these classes were going to be in the future.

"Well," said Libby, very encouragingly with a nod and a smile, "and at least I know now if I ever do get into some nasty kind of trouble, I know who I can turn to help protect me from whatever it is."

Actually, in a situation like that, Libby would want to turn to Vi for protection nine out of ten times, probably, but she was raised to always flatter boys and make them feel important and support them whenever she could, so the compliment, even if not entirely truthful, just came almost naturally to her.

Guillermo would recommend going to just about anyone for protection if there was ever a need to but he did smile at the compliment regardless, unaware that he was proving the narrative’s point.

“Well hopefully nothing does happen that requires anyone needing protection,” Guillermo told her, even though it was Fandom and he knew there was a chance that they could be attacked.

"Oh!" said Libby, her eyes going a little wide. "Like those awful things last weekend that--"

...that she had definitely interacted with and wasn't just retroactively handwaving an encounter with the tickle monsters, but, either way, it was right about then that the signal for the end of the round seemed to go off, startling her slightly out of her response as she blinked over toward where the sound had come from.

"Oh," she said, "I guess that's the end of the round already..." Her attention shifted to Guillermo again with a smile. "But this was really nice, Guillermo, even if it was so short. We really should try and do things together again. I mean, outside of DnD. You still have a ton of vampire movies to show me, remember!"

“It was nice being able to catch up like this,” Guillermo told her with a warm smile, “I would like to be able to do more things together again," there was a a pause, "and I can’t wait to show you more vampire movies,” he added.

Libby couldn't help smiling at that. "I'm looking forward to it," she said, and then, giving Guillermo a little wave, she went off onto her next 'date.'
