It was that time of year again! New people were here! New people to date, get to know, or perhaps make a mortal enemy of!

You never know.

Signs were hung up in front of the bar, both obviously, and easy to miss for anyone who might wander in and get signed up without their knowledge. Above the bar was a banner (in glitter):

TONIGHT!
THREE MINUTE DATES!
GOOD LUCK WBRURBODY

Your hostess wasn't gonna question it. And a few minutes before 8:00, she took the stage.

"Hello, everyone! And welcome to Three Minute Dates!" Kitty greeted them. "If you're new to this, the rules are simple. We call your name along with one other person. You talk to this person, get to know their likes, their loves, their dreams. After three minutes, a buzzer will sound-" Pause for the sound. "-and you'll hear your name paired with a different person. Et cetera. If there is anyone you'd like to talk to more, the bar will be open afterwards for drinks and conversation. Remember that any violence will get you transported into the pond, but also please don't attempt violence in order to flee, that is rude to the rest of your dates. Now I'm going to get off the stage. Have fun, and good luck..."

She trailed off, not going to attempt to pronounce the word on that sign.

"So, how are you settling in? Shop seems to be doing great - you got yourself a place to stay and all that?"

Look, he had been there before... just over a year ago in fact. Dwight knew what it could be like to get settled in. But at least Raiden had family and familiarity right off the bat.

"Oh, yeah, so far so good," Raiden said. "My brother set up an apartment for me--Daman, I mean, not Gray, that would be too much initiative for Gray on a good day. But it was really nice of Daman! I need to make sure to tell him that again soon. Maybe. I'll check with Al." Being nice to Daman could either help with Envy or set Envy off by making him feel patronized. It was always delicate, like everything else with Raiden's prickliest brother. "But you don't know these people, so you don't care," Raiden remembered. "They're still in California. Is your family back in...you said you're from Maine, right?"

"Good to have family there to help, always makes transitions easier," Dwight said with a nod. And then, despite his best effort, that smile went a little sad at that question.

"Yeah, Maine. And no... no family there, or here, or anywhere really. Last in the family line and all that. Well, technically, there's an ex out there somewhere and the old man is.... unfortunately ... still alive. So, yeah no family, but that's not all bad really" he added trying to sound somewhat positive about that for the sake of not ruining the 'not date' talk.

Okay, so that was a bad conversational direction. Time to change the subject and salvage what time they had left! "So what's your favorite food?" Boom. Nailed it. "You already know mine."

Food was always a good conversation saver yes.

"Well, clearly I'm not overly picky" Dwight said with a small smirk. "But I have to say I don't think I have ever said no to a plate of hot wings. I'm also quite partial to some good crab legs or clam chowder" cuz you know... Maine.

And in an attempt to end what time they had left on a better note in case conversations continued later Dwight threw out and idea as they started wrapping up.

"Might be worth considering making a special pizza and wings night now and then- best of both worlds all in one place!"

"Dwight!" Raiden exclaimed. "That's a great idea!" Ooh, or a pizza with wings on it...yes...Raiden could feel it coming together.

"Well, I will have to come by and check out what you come up with sometime soon!" Dwight said with a grin. "see ya around Raiden, and good luck with the final date."
