Caritas- Saturday before 8:15 pm

It was that time of year again! New people were here! New people to date, get to know, or perhaps make a mortal enemy of!

You never know.

Signs were hung up in front of the bar, both obviously, and easy to miss for anyone who might wander in and get signed up without their knowledge. Above the bar was a banner (in glitter):

TONIGHT!
THREE MINUTE DATES!
GOOD LUCK WBRURBODY

Your hostess wasn't gonna question it. And a few minutes before 8:00, she took the stage.

"Hello, everyone! And welcome to Three Minute Dates!" Kitty greeted them. "If you're new to this, the rules are simple. We call your name along with one other person. You talk to this person, get to know their likes, their loves, their dreams. After three minutes, a buzzer will sound-" Pause for the sound. "-and you'll hear your name paired with a different person. Et cetera. If there is anyone you'd like to talk to more, the bar will be open afterwards for drinks and conversation. Remember that any violence will get you transported into the pond, but also please don't attempt violence in order to flee, that is rude to the rest of your dates. Now I'm going to get off the stage. Have fun, and good luck..."

She trailed off, not going to attempt to pronounce the word on that sign.

Libby looked for a moment like she wanted to argue with such praise, but, grinning over at Charlie, seemed to acquiesce and just accept the compliment with a little nod. "Thank you," she said. "And I'm far less nervous this time around, but last time, it was in February, and I'd only just gotten here, and, well..."

She hesitated a moment, since she definitely didn't want to bring anything down by bringing it up, but it was some pretty important context.

"I've never really interacted with a lot of people before coming here," she explained. "I'm much more used to it, now, and to everybody, as well, but, at the time, it was honestly really...daunting."

Not to mention the whole thing with not being allowed to date, but, obviously, she'd made peace with that by insisting that these weren't really dates, anyway.

Charlie might be frivolous, but she had a good heart. She listened seriously to Libby, then nodded. "I can see where that would leave you feeling nervous and uncomfortable," she said, checking to see that, yes, indeed her 'mine' charm was still safely on Libby. "But you seem pretty good at interactions now. And if anyone gives you a hard time, I'll be right there."

"Oh, I don't think anyone here's the type to give me a hard time about it," Libby said, laughing a little at the idea, although her smile was mostly just grateful for the support. "Especially since I am better at interactions now, and I'm pretty sure I know just about everyone, anyway, except for maybe some of the newer kids. I should probably be a little better about reaching out to those who aren't," she passed Charlie a fond smile, "my little siblings.

"It helps, though," she said, a moment later, "that everyone here's mostly really nice and understanding."

"But Sis," Charlie mock whined, "Why would you ever need to spend time with anyone but me? I'm your favorite, right?"

She grinned at Libby, "Kidding, obviously. But you're right, everyone here is amazingly nice andunderstanding."

"I'll tell you the same thing I tell all my other little siblings, Charlie," said Libby, not about to let this opportunity slip away, "of course you're my favorite.

"Have you had a chance to make a lot of new friends here, then?" she asked, maybe a little bit of that actual natural big-sisterness in her kicking off thanks to all the joking. "I mean, it's hard to imagine you not making friends with everyone you meet, but are there any standouts?"

Charlie laughed. "Of course I am."

She smiled. "I'm not doing too badly, everyone is pretty friendly here. Graham is a real sweetheart, but I'm sure you already know that."
