It was that time of year again! New people were here! New people to date, get to know, or perhaps make a mortal enemy of!

You never know.

Signs were hung up in front of the bar, both obviously, and easy to miss for anyone who might wander in and get signed up without their knowledge. Above the bar was a banner (in glitter):

TONIGHT!
THREE MINUTE DATES!
GOOD LUCK WBRURBODY

Your hostess wasn't gonna question it. And a few minutes before 8:00, she took the stage.

"Hello, everyone! And welcome to Three Minute Dates!" Kitty greeted them. "If you're new to this, the rules are simple. We call your name along with one other person. You talk to this person, get to know their likes, their loves, their dreams. After three minutes, a buzzer will sound-" Pause for the sound. "-and you'll hear your name paired with a different person. Et cetera. If there is anyone you'd like to talk to more, the bar will be open afterwards for drinks and conversation. Remember that any violence will get you transported into the pond, but also please don't attempt violence in order to flee, that is rude to the rest of your dates. Now I'm going to get off the stage. Have fun, and good luck..."

She trailed off, not going to attempt to pronounce the word on that sign.

“I don’t normally have much luck in regards to dating,” Cutter admitted, “last two relationships kind of ended badly,” he stared down at his scotch, “do most people end up being successful at these events?” he asked curiously.

"Ah, yeah, I get that," Will said sympathetically. He did not have the best record with relationships himself. "Depends on your definition of successful," he continued. "I think some people use it as an excuse to just get out and talk to people. Not really looking to date. And others are looking for a quick hookup. So not dating either, really."

Cutter nodded, “I can see how something like this would be good for meeting different people,” he said, “not that I really tended to go out to the bars back home either, last time I did I got recruited to consult for the home office,” he said dryly as he recalled how he ended up meeting Claudia for the first time.

"The home office...?" Will gave Cutter a puzzled look. Hopefully his explanation would be quick as the buzzer was about to go!

“It’s kind of complicated,” Cutter admitted, “but basically back home we have these temporal anomalies that started appearing and they were usually links to the past, often to the time of the dinosaurs,” he explained, “our very first encounter with the anomalies, at least the ones that the British government were aware of, linked back to the Permian period,” there was a pause, trying to wonder how quickly he could explain everything and how he ended up getting involved before the buzzer went off, “I don’t know if you’ve met Connor Temple? he's usually with a creature called Rex? That was our first experience with encountering a creature from the past only Rex ended up sticking around,” he added.
