It was that time of year again! New people were here! New people to date, get to know, or perhaps make a mortal enemy of!

You never know.

Signs were hung up in front of the bar, both obviously, and easy to miss for anyone who might wander in and get signed up without their knowledge. Above the bar was a banner (in glitter):

TONIGHT!
THREE MINUTE DATES!
GOOD LUCK WBRURBODY

Your hostess wasn't gonna question it. And a few minutes before 8:00, she took the stage.

"Hello, everyone! And welcome to Three Minute Dates!" Kitty greeted them. "If you're new to this, the rules are simple. We call your name along with one other person. You talk to this person, get to know their likes, their loves, their dreams. After three minutes, a buzzer will sound-" Pause for the sound. "-and you'll hear your name paired with a different person. Et cetera. If there is anyone you'd like to talk to more, the bar will be open afterwards for drinks and conversation. Remember that any violence will get you transported into the pond, but also please don't attempt violence in order to flee, that is rude to the rest of your dates. Now I'm going to get off the stage. Have fun, and good luck..."

She trailed off, not going to attempt to pronounce the word on that sign.

Liz nodded, “I’ll try and come round then,” she told him, “it’s … I’ve been trying to be better about being social, having better more healthy coping mechanisms,”

She knew she did not have the best coping mechanisms.

"Yes, um. I...I definitely know that feeling," Jon admitted. "Oh, I do have a cat right now. But you do as well, so I'm assuming you're not allergic. Unless maybe your cat is, um. Jealous. Or something."

“I’m not allergic,” Liz assured him, “what’s your cat’s name? Rain’s really good with other cats, she spends a lot of time with Summer’s cat Pancakes and Dr. Lecter’s kitten as well,” she smiled, “she also has over twenty brother’s and sister’s, her previous owner, Hellboy - he gave her to me when I first moved here, he loves cats,” she told him.

"Oh, wow, twenty!" That sounded a bit like heaven and a bit like maybe it might be too much even for Jon.

"Um. Her name is Issa. She came with it. She's lovely, all white and long-haired." Jon pulled out his phone to show a picture.

“Issa?” Liz blinked a bit at the name and the familiarity of the name and her appearance, “Summer was looking after a cat named Issa for a while, she had a couple of play dates with Rain,” Liz told Jon, she remembered that had been one one of the first dates she’d had with Prompto.

"I...I think she might be the same cat, then," Jon said. He showed her a picture of Issa on his phone. (There were a lot of pictures of Issa on his phone.) "I know she's had a few babysitters, anyway."
