The boardwalk, Friday evening

Blair didn't have ice to work with this time, but she tried to do what she could with the location she had. Luckily the beach was pretty. Besides, too much gold in the decorations tended to cross the line into tacky.

So she kept the decorations to twinkling gold lights and candles. Most of the linens were a crisp white, with golden napkins and table runners to provide pops of color.

The bulk of the gold went into the food. There were brandied apricots, lemon and chocolate cheesecakes, mango sorbets, small cups of saffron vanilla pudding, miniature stuffed yellow peppers, and any number of foods that followed the theme, along with the pies that Ned had made.

Drinks were mixed, but naturally included Goldschläger, as well as coffee and cocoa decorated with tiny gold letters which said things like "Fandom" or "Goodbye Summer."

Blair had staked out a prime table with a view of the water. She sipped at a passionfruit martini, listened to the music coming out of the various speakers she'd had set up, and looked forward to a night of judging watching the crowd.

She was also going to make sure nobody served those skunks. Clearly they didn't know how to hold their liquor.

I read that as "Last night they popped out on me" and was VERY WORRIED.

Ned spent the better part of two and a half days baking. Now, he'd wrangled some NPC help to carry them down to the boardwalk and was busily setting them out.

Amongst the assorted pies was a: lemon chiffon pie (http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/gale-gand/lemon-chiffon-pie-recipe/index.html), butterscotch banana cream pie (http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/wayne-harley-brachman/butterscotch-banana-cream-pie-recipe/index.html), banana cream pie (http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/ellie-krieger/banana-cream-pie-recipe/index.html), mango lime cream pie (http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/emeril-lagasse/mango-lime-cream-pie-recipe/index.html), coconut crusted key lime pie (http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/wayne-harley-brachman/coconut-crusted-key-lime-pie-recipe/index.html), lemon chiffon pie (http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/sandra-lee/frosty-lemon-chiffon-pie-recipe/index.html), pina colada pie (http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/sandra-lee/pina-colada-pie-recipe/index.html), spice apple and pear pie (http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/food-network-kitchens/spiced-apple-and-pear-pie-recipe/index.html), oatmeal nut crunch apple pie (http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/eating-well/oatmeal-nut-crunch-apple-pie-recipe/index.html), mango lime cream pie (http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/emeril-lagasse/mango-lime-cream-pie-recipe/index.html), lemon icebox pie (http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/emeril-lagasse/lemon-icebox-pie-recipe/index.html), pumpkin pie (http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/paula-deen/pumpkin-pie-recipe/index.html), apple and quince pie (http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/sweet-dreams/apple-and-quince-pie-recipe/index.html) and gobbler cobbler pie. (http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/gobbler-cobbler-pie-recipe/index.html)

With the pies delivered, Ned thanked the person who'd helped him and hoped everyone enjoyed the assortment.

Ned found a spot to lean against the railing and enjoyed the cooler weather and the smell of pies coming from the food table.

It was a nice night.

Tony boggled at the pie selection and after considering his options, he decided to start with the butterscotch banana cream pie.

Angela snagged a fruity looking drink from the table before she set out to talk to people.

Two parties, two nights in a row. This week was awesome.

Hannibal grabbed a drink and, after some thought, a piece of the pumpkin pie.

Hannibal found a spot where he could see everyone and kicked up his feet, lazily enjoying the night and the drink and his pie.

Sean was all for the booze. Because c'mon, after a day of chasing drunken skunks out of his office, he was in the mood for a drink or four himself.

He snagged a piece of chocolate cheesecake and some Goldschläger.

Summer decided to go to the party tonight. Once there, she got herself a drink and a piece of apple and quiche pie.

Chuck was there, looking awesome thanks to MP!, with a drink in his hand. He was trying to avoid making contact with the skunks. They were acting like Serena on a bender.

Still holding his drink, Sean meandered aimlessly, just sort of seeing who all was there. People-watching was fun, man.

Summer was all about the mingling. Just not with the skunks.

Francine would be hanging out by the food, yes. But tonight it was more due to nervousness that the dress she'd bought was totally wrong... and totally too tight... and totally oh God what was she thinking showing up to a party thrown by popular people, and was there maybe a drunk skunk large enough to hide behind?

So actually, not so much with the eating anything she couldn't nibble without fear of spilling something all over herself. Which was sad because PIE.

Mac was there. Not mingling, per se, but she was around. She even put some effort into this, and looks quite nice. Just ignore the fact she's sitting on the edge of the boardwalk fiddling with her iPhone rather than actually talking to people.

There's a drink besider her, and any skunk that came near it was getting shoved off the boardwalk.

Lola was getting the hang of this whole meet and greet in English thing, but for the moment was staying off to the side and people-watching.

And possibly providing a quiet color-commentary in German.

Lee grabbed a drink and a few pieces of pie. He was a growing boy.

With pie and drink in hand, Lee went to stand out of the way of the crowd but not completely in the shadows.

Tosh wasn't sure why she decided to go to this party. There was the whole lack of social skills thing she had going on. But she was there...standing off to the side.
