Valentine's Dance; Town Hall; Friday Evening [8 pm - 10 pm]

Arrivals to town hall would notice that the Student Council took a darker approach to the decorations this year. The colors of the streamers, balloons and table cloths were in shades of dark red and black. Instead of cut outs of hearts and pictures of cupid, there were broken mirrors hanging on the walls, open umbrellas scattered about the room, fake cobwebs on the wall and glittery cut outs of the number "13" hung everywhere.

You even had to walk under a huge ladder in order to get into the dance.

Sure, they were tempting fate by having a Friday the 13th themed dance but this was Fandom. What's the worst that could happen?

[Wait for the OCD or so help me...I'll hurt you is here! Up early because Natalie said so and to get the most out of play. Second part to go up later on tonight (tomorrow?) to save browsers and to spike punch]

"You're really young to be a police officer," Ned said, eyes widening a touch. "I didn't know you were hired that young. I thought there was an age limit."

"Home isn't here, I guess?" Ned asked carefully.

He was a little slow, huh. "No," he said. "It's a different galaxy. One that's far, far away."

Ben forgot that everyone didn't have his eyes for faces and names. Or obsessive need to know who everyone in a room was.

"Oh, right. Different...planet." Ned was still getting used to all that. "Do you have to finish school before you become a police officer?"

"I never really started school," Ben said with a shrug. "I was tutored until I ended up here."

"Well, that's what I mean," he said, gesturing to here with a nod of his head. "Finishing here, I mean."

"I'm already a lieutenant," Ben said slowly, "so...no."

"Oh, wow." Ned blinked. "And you're here?"

He was slow sometimes. Shh.

"That's a lot of frequent flier miles," Ned said, trying to joke. "You should be able to buy a few vacations now."

"That sounds...kind of intense," Ned remarked and picked up a chip. "It's kind of a vacation being here, then, right?"

Ben arched up an eyebrow. "Not exactly."

He could elaborate. He was just finding pleasure in being a pain.

"So, you're just having a difficult life, aren't you?" Ned tried. "Why isn't this a vacation? You are at a dance."

"I think I'd throw up," Ned said bluntly. "Because...ew."

Ben shrugged. "There's a first time for everything."

He'd seen his first exploding head a while ago.

"I think I've seen enough to be able to say I'd like to bypass an exploding head," Ned said, shuddering. "I don't want a first time."

"Somehow I don't think you know what I've seen," Ned said, glancing over at Ben and frowning. "Making assumptions about me doesn't sound like very thorough police work."
