Valentine's Day Dance; Friday Evening; Town Hall

So far disaster hadn't struck and it seems that the StuCo wasn't tempting fate with the choice of decor. Good thing. It would suck to have an invasion before everyone got lucky on Valentine's Day.

There was still plenty of food to eat, dances to be had and, hey, it looked like someone spiked the punch.

[You are some damn talky people. This is your mirror post (possibly not your last) for the dance. Wait for the OCD or you'll have me to deal with and I fight dirty up!]

Not... really. Or, at least, not with those spikes.

"It's kinda fitting," she admitted, glancing around. "Though I wasn't much help with coming up with superstitions for it."

It was hard, when you came from a different world, to do that.

"Your world doesn't worry about black cats or broken mirrors?" Romeo asked.

He was a quick one.
intraspective: (confidence)

"Why would we worry about black cats?" she asked, shrugging. "And a broken mirror is just going to get a 'oh no, we've got to get all the glass off the ground before everyone starts stepping on it and hurting themselves'. So this is really neat."

"You're an anthropologist for the night," Romeo suggested, not sounding especially offended. "Investigating our primitive ways."

"Anthropologist? Me?" She laughed. "And I wouldn't say you're all primitive, just that it's different, and it's in the smaller things that it shows more."
withoutverona: (B+W serious)

"I don't really fret that much over spilled salt or broken mirrors," Romeo said quickly. "What superstitions do you have, then?"
intraspective: (challenge me i dare you)

"Don't write peoples' names in red ink," she said promptly. "It brings bad luck to them--so I guess, if you wanted you'd do it to someone, but stuff like that always has a tendency to come back 'round and that'd be bad. If you're thinking of someone you care for, and something around you breaks, or cracks, something bad is going to happen to the person in your thoughts."

Ino shrugged a bit. "If you sneeze once someone is saying good things about you, twice and they're saying bad things about you, three times and someone loves you, and four times in a row means: you've a cold."
withoutverona: (i say sir)

Re: Mingling

[personal profile] withoutverona 2009-02-14 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
"And five times means you have a cold and someone's talking about you?" Romeo suggested. "I don't believe in much of that. I do believe in dreams, sometimes."
intraspective: (over the shoulder grin)

Re: Mingling

[personal profile] intraspective 2009-02-14 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
"True dreaming?" she asked interestedly. "And, ha no, I think it just means you've got a cold after that. Or really bad dust allergies."
withoutverona: (dream text)

"When I was younger I had a few dreams that came true, at least in their feeling," Romeo explained. "It's not happened in some time."

"I wonder if it's 'cause you grew up?" she mused. "Aren't there a lot of stories along those lines?"

"That children see things adults don't?" Romeo asked. "Perhaps. I was told very young children talk to angels, but I think that's just what nurses say when babies babble."
intraspective: (grinning arms crossed)

Re: Mingling

[personal profile] intraspective 2009-02-14 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
"That the babble is them talking to angels?" Ino asked. "If that's the case then I'd imagine that the angels get quite tired of it, don't you think. Babies talking to you, all the time."

"... they have eternity," Romeo said, uncertainly. "What else do they have to do?"

"I don't know?" she said, dubiously. "But hopefully more than that?"
withoutverona: (Hawaiian shirt bzuh?)

Re: Mingling

[personal profile] withoutverona 2009-02-14 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
"You have an age bias," Romeo decided. "You think babies couldn't have much interesting to say."

He almost managed to keep a straight face for that, too.
intraspective: (oh come on!)

Re: Mingling

[personal profile] intraspective 2009-02-14 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
She raised her eyebrows. "And you think babies are interesting conversationalists?"

No.

"If they can remember heaven and the saints, they might be!" he tried.
intraspective: (oh come on!)

"But do they?"

Seriously, now.
withoutverona: (all stubbly and grrrr)

"... I can't prove that they don't?"

Yeah. Even he didn't believe that.

[personal profile] intraspective 2009-02-14 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
"But you can't prove that they do either!" she said, laughing. "So we're rather stuck."
withoutverona: (he has a secret for you)

Re: Mingling

[personal profile] withoutverona 2009-02-14 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm afraid we are," Romeo agreed amiably. "Are you here with someone?"

"Ichigo," she said cheerfully, "though I lost him in the crowd as his player went to sleep and have been cheerfully just being 'round since."
withoutverona: (B+ W grin)

Re: Mingling

[personal profile] withoutverona 2009-02-14 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
"And I think I'll find Yurika and leave you to keep being cheerfully around," Romeo decided because drowning in threads. "Happy Valentine's Day, Ino."
intraspective: (temperance)

"I'll see you around," she said, smiling. "Happy Valentine's Day."
