So far disaster hadn't struck and it seems that the StuCo wasn't tempting fate with the choice of decor. Good thing. It would suck to have an invasion before everyone got lucky on Valentine's Day.

There was still plenty of food to eat, dances to be had and, hey, it looked like someone spiked the punch.

"No, I came alone," Zayne said. He gave a genuine smile to suggest that there wasn't a problem with that.

"Aww, that's cute! You should totally ask my friend Sookie to dance," Claudia told him, pointing her out.

Claudia was quite the little busybody.

"You know Sookie too?" Zayne asked. He already knew this because Sookie had mentioned Zayne's alleged drug use to him, but he thought it was more polite not to mention that.

Claudia bobbed her head. "Sookie and I are totes friends!" she said. "And she's cute and wonderful and needs a boy who won't think things about her legs or eyes or other parts so don't, okay?"

It made sense in Claudia's head. Probably not anyone else's, though.

"I promise I won't," Zayne said, not really following Claudia's point.

"Good," Claudia said happily. "Oh, and the punch is spiked."

"How do you know that?" Zayne asked.

"It's a high school dance," Claudia said. "It's always spiked. Oh! And I had some."

"Are you going to be okay?" Zayne asked. Part of him wanted to ask why she drank it if she knew it was going to be spiked, but that was obviously secondary right now.

"Oh, fine," Claudia said. "Back in Connecticut we used to have keggers in people's basements all the time. Three cups of punch isn't going to hurt me."

"Oh," Zayne said, slightly more concerned than ever about his roommate's state of general well-being. "Well, if you'll be fine then, I'll try not to worry."

"I don't use drugs," Claudia said. "Only alcohol."

She had clearly missed the point of all of the assemblies.

"Um," Zayne said. He hated to be this guy, but he had to do it. "Alcohol is a drug."

"...Really?"
