As the sun started to set, the lights officially came on at the new community center! The building was now complete, its walls gleaming and solid in the waning light. As people began to arrive, they would notice decorations lining the tiled and bright corridors, leading them towards the large auditorium where the dance was being held.

Once inside the auditorium, there were more decorations. Streamers in the colors of summer hung from the rafters and painted the walls. There were fresh flowers in every corner and on every table, bringing fragrance and festiveness to the room. The lights were low in the auditorium, dimmed to provide both mood and setting to this party in the evening.

There were several long tables stocked full with foods of all kinds and there was even a bar with an expert bartender who'd be happy to serve you. Tips were welcome but not mandatory. Large speakers hung in the corners of the room, installed to provide the latest and greatest sound system to the new building.

Everything was completed, everything was ready so it was time to enjoy yourselves!

"Yeah, they did a pretty good job," he agreed. "Not overly pink like the last one."

Ariel took a second to look down at her very, very pink dress, and then back up at Jacob with brows lifted in wondering what's so wrong with pink.

He laughed at the look and held up his hands in peace offering. "It looks great on you," he assured her, "but standing in a room with nothing but pink around is kind of overkill."

Ariel narrowed her eyes skeptically at Jacob, as if considering his point and not being very much convinced by it, then sighing greatly and acceding it to him that maybe a whole room would be a bit much. All in overdramatic expressions, because, really, overdramatic expressions were unfortunately most of what she had to work with here in the way of flirting.

But, overdramatic expressions aside, Ariel then quirked an eyebrow because, really? The last one was all pink? That she genuinely was doubtful of.

"It was Valentine's," he paused. "Actually, Prom was in between that, but I missed out on it. So yeah, Valentine's and they went for the overly cute theme."

Ariel arched an eyebrow, again asking what was wrong with that, since she was overly cute, too. Communicated as best she as it could be with a flip of her hair over her shoulder and giving her cute face.

At least she didn't have any problems with confidence, right?

No problems with confidence, but then neither did he. Well, except for the part where he tended to overcompensate.

He laughed. "Trust me, there's such a thing as too cute."

Ariel looked definitively skeptical of a claim like that, before pointing a finger accusingly at him. If anyone was going to be guilty of too cute around here, it was him and that laugh.

And she was just making him laugh more. "Nah, I'm just the right amount of cute."

And now Ariel was the one laughing. She held up her hands as if in surrender, because, alright, alright, he could have that one, that was true enough.

"I'm glad you're not trying to deny it," he chuckled. "So how are you liking the dance so far?"

Oh! Hand to her heart, with a deeply contented sigh, Ariel made it pretty clear that she was absolutely love, love, loving it! It was turning out even nicer than she thought it would, and, even if that goal of that perfect kiss tonight still had yet to come to fruition, the evening was still young.

Which lead her to then transform that enthralled expression into one hesitation, as if there was just one thing, one big oppressive but hanging in the air keeping it from being entirely good....And expression, of course, meant to goad him into asking what that one big but might be.

Uh huh, she was doing rather well getting him to respond like she wanted to without using any words. "So what aren't you liking?" he asked.

And that one was easy enough to answer. It was simply that she (hand to herself) and him (pointing to Jacob) had not (shaking her head in dismay) danced yet (thumb hitched to the dance floor, scheming grin on her face).

Jacob laughed and glanced at the dancefloor. "I think I can manage that," he nodded, holding his hand out to her.

It was good that he could, then, because Ariel was likely going to try to get him to do it even if he couldn't.
