As the sun started to set, the lights officially came on at the new community center! The building was now complete, its walls gleaming and solid in the waning light. As people began to arrive, they would notice decorations lining the tiled and bright corridors, leading them towards the large auditorium where the dance was being held.

Once inside the auditorium, there were more decorations. Streamers in the colors of summer hung from the rafters and painted the walls. There were fresh flowers in every corner and on every table, bringing fragrance and festiveness to the room. The lights were low in the auditorium, dimmed to provide both mood and setting to this party in the evening.

There were several long tables stocked full with foods of all kinds and there was even a bar with an expert bartender who'd be happy to serve you. Tips were welcome but not mandatory. Large speakers hung in the corners of the room, installed to provide the latest and greatest sound system to the new building.

Everything was completed, everything was ready so it was time to enjoy yourselves!

"That doesn't sound like him at all," Scully observed, taking another sip from her bottle. "Jacob said something when he found us this morning--" Oh, hello, fair Irish skin. And the reddening thereof. "That he'd done something strange." Thinking hard. "Water poisoning?"

"Lasting only 24 hours?"

"Possible. Not likely, but..." Scully drank more of her (bottled) water, and thought. "Something in a water filter, that's dissolved and gone now?" It sucked to theorize without data while feeling like this.

"I guess we could check it out. But I get the feeling we might never find out."

Scully sighed. "Pranks that contribute to the destruction of their own evidence. Yeah." She would still try, but this was a very successful joke, if that's what it was. "The dance seems nice, though."

"It's nice to see everyone kinda relaxed. Teachers and all."

"Strange, but nice." Scully glanced around. "Faces I don't know, too. We don't have new students yet, do we?"

"Don't think so. But there's more people on the island than you might think."

Scully took another drink of water, starting to feel tired. "I might leave after a few more songs." She cocked her head. "Future music. Different from what I'm used to. But not bad."

Claudia made a face. "Some of this stuff is totally old."

"...you are from 2010, right?" Scully checked, wondering if she'd had that wrong all this time.

Claudia nodded. "No time displacement, here."

"Right." Which should have made Scully feel old, but after last night's joint silliness, that just wasn't possible. She couldn't feel more mature than the person she'd passed out in the graveyard with. Even if she was twenty years older, technically. "Next dance, I'm dancing."

"That's the spirit! Just, you know, don't pass out on us while you're at it."
