As the sun started to set, the lights officially came on at the new community center! The building was now complete, its walls gleaming and solid in the waning light. As people began to arrive, they would notice decorations lining the tiled and bright corridors, leading them towards the large auditorium where the dance was being held.

Once inside the auditorium, there were more decorations. Streamers in the colors of summer hung from the rafters and painted the walls. There were fresh flowers in every corner and on every table, bringing fragrance and festiveness to the room. The lights were low in the auditorium, dimmed to provide both mood and setting to this party in the evening.

There were several long tables stocked full with foods of all kinds and there was even a bar with an expert bartender who'd be happy to serve you. Tips were welcome but not mandatory. Large speakers hung in the corners of the room, installed to provide the latest and greatest sound system to the new building.

Everything was completed, everything was ready so it was time to enjoy yourselves!

"No," he shook his head. "It's kind of normal. Know what it is too?" he grinned at her. "Fun."

"I learnt it for work," she told him, trying to squash his assumptions. "It's only practical to keep up with it."

He shook his head. "I don't believe you," he decided.

"Of course not."

That was a sigh.

"I don't think you're hating it," he reasoned, "and you said it'd be a pleasure."

"Manners are in, I hear," she said dryly.

"But you're still not hating it," he concluded, smirking as if she'd just admitted that she did like it. "And I haven't stepped on your toes yet, that helps."

"Yes," she said levelly. "It does."

He chuckled as that still wasn't a denial and somewhere it got filed away that Rosalind enjoyed dancing. "So have you only ever done formal dances or more casual too?"

"Formal," she said, unaware of his thoughts. "I've never gone to a more casual affair."

"So no free style dancing?" he guessed.

A class or two, but nothing more.

"Not particularly."

He tilted his head. "That's not a definite no either," he pointed out.

"My class covered the basic idea of it," she clarified.

"Which did you prefer then?" he wondered.

"I like rules," she reminded him. "Patterns. Orders."

He chuckled at the obvious answer and nodded his head. "I should have known that, huh? So how badly am I doing?"

"You could be much better," she said loftily.

A pause.

"But you could also be much worse." He was a teenaged boy, after all.

He chuckled and nodded his head. "I never had classes, unless you count my sisters forcing me to," he mused and shook his head. "So how do I get to be better?"

"Practice," she said. "Surely that is not a hard concept to grasp."

He rolled his eyes at her. "I don't know, maybe you should repeat it to make sure I heard it right."

Well, if he insisted...

"Practice," she told him, a faint smile in her eyes. "Until you're perfect."

"Yeah, but who am I going to practice with?" he asked, frowning as he glanced around the room as if someone would pop out to offer.

"I am sure the gym would be happy to help you with that," she said dryly. "Or perhaps lessons will start here."

It was a community center after all.

"That sounds so much more boring," he sighed. "I think I like the dances better."
