As the sun started to set, the lights officially came on at the new community center! The building was now complete, its walls gleaming and solid in the waning light. As people began to arrive, they would notice decorations lining the tiled and bright corridors, leading them towards the large auditorium where the dance was being held.

Once inside the auditorium, there were more decorations. Streamers in the colors of summer hung from the rafters and painted the walls. There were fresh flowers in every corner and on every table, bringing fragrance and festiveness to the room. The lights were low in the auditorium, dimmed to provide both mood and setting to this party in the evening.

There were several long tables stocked full with foods of all kinds and there was even a bar with an expert bartender who'd be happy to serve you. Tips were welcome but not mandatory. Large speakers hung in the corners of the room, installed to provide the latest and greatest sound system to the new building.

Everything was completed, everything was ready so it was time to enjoy yourselves!

Scully had totally blocked that part out. Until now. "Oh God. I did. Some girl-- Tara? Had heels." Scully took another sip of water. "Which, I'm as interested in heels as the next short woman, but not to the point of gushing over them to strangers. Good grief."

Ino studied her strappy heels and had to agree with that one.

"It did say Tara was actin' really weird," Ino laughed. "But did you have fun last night?"

"I did," Scully said, sounding surprised to her own ears. She gave Ino a rueful look. "Claudia and I had fun. Just-- letting loose." She shook her head. "And aside from the hangover and the trebuchet ... okay, I regret Sex Ed class too. But it could've been worse. I didn't kiss anyone. Or flash anyone." Thank. God.

"See?" She wasn't going to stop giggling any time soon. "'Least you didn't get married. Some people wind up doing that when things get weird."

Scully gave her a horrified look. "Don't people try to stop them?"

Ino blinked at her.

"Why?"

It was far more fun to point and laugh!

Still more horror. "But... what if they ended up-- how do people deal with that later?" Wait. This was what Dean had been talking about in Sex Ed class. When she'd been too fidgety and wound up to pay attention.

"They get in annulled?" Ino shrugged. "Some times the marriages are even--good things, really. It's not like they marry strangers most times."

"If I ever start to do something that stupid, I beg you to stop me," Scully said. "I'm Catholic. My grandmother would completely freak out." Her mother, rather. But still.

"I suppose I can sit on you," she said, laughing. "If I remember--I might not be myself then either."

Or she might even be the one Scully was marrying!

"I'll do the same for you. If I'm not crazy again," Scully said dryly.

They could wear matching gowns! And high-heeled shoes!

And flowers in their hair! Have a party celebrating their nuptials! The right shade of blue would look adorable on the both of them...

"It's mostly fine, though," she laughed. "I mean, people get it 'round here? Most of the time, it's not your fault."

The most adorable couple ever!

"I'm relieved that that seems to be the consensus," Scully sighed. "I don't like being out of control." HUGE shock. "But this seems... mostly harmless."

"It can hurt," she admitted. "Stretches trust sometimes, and sometimes people say or do things that--sting, even if it wasn't the person they normally trust. But it is mostly harmless."

Claudia and Peter's fight came to mind. "So does this happen often? And there's no way to fight it off, I take it?"

"Definitely no way to get rid of it," Ino confessed. "It never seems to hit everyone, but there's no reason why some people don't get it and others do."

"That's good to know." Scully relaxed again, and looked rueful. "So. I should hope that next time it's someone else's turn to look ridiculous?"

"And make sure you carry a camera!" she laughed. "For pictures!"
