April Fools' Dance, An Abandoned Warehouse, Friday Night

The first arrivals to the warehouse would have found nothing - until the lights went on, dropping many shades of glitter down onto the floor. The glitter would stick around all night, almost-but-not-quite clashing with the colorful decor, though it did not seem to incite any boykissy.

Even if one of the janitors definitely took a shot at using it as an excuse.

There was a karaoke booth set up in the corner, and the rest of the party environment looked chaotic and incredibly merry. Reds, blues, and yellows had been thrown together like a crazy man had attacked the place with some paint.

His confidence was nothing new to Caroline, even if she was still a little wary of the whole dancing thing. They'd managed to screw this up before, what was to stop them now?

"I've never danced to karaoke," she said. "Though I was thinking you should get up and do some more Bono tonight..."

If Nathan had anything to say, they weren't going to screw this up. He didn't want to waste his awesome napkin drawings for their night to turn into an argument.

"Why in god's name do you want to hear that again?" he asked, keeping a hold of her hand and gesturing her closer so they could get this dance thing going. "Didn't it hurt you as much as it hurt me last time?"

"Hurt? Maybe my sides ached from laughing, but I loved every second of it," Caroline teased. Maybe she just liked seeing him in pain.

"Yeah, yeah, I am so glad to have entertained you," Nathan said, tugging her closer to him and sliding his other arm around her waist. "If anyone's gonna sing tonight, it's you. I think I'm owed a show or two, yeah? My last one got cut off way too early."

Her arms slipped around his long neck, her hands messing with the back of his hair because she liked annoying him. "You want a show instead of me right here, all pressed against you? That is almost disappointing to hear, Nate."

"Nathan," he sighed though he had no illusions that she'd stop calling him Nate. "And that's not what I said. I want both of those things. I want what I can have now and..."

He leaned a little closer to her, smiling. "...what I can have later. I want anything you'll give, Caroline. Yeah?"

"It would be sad if you didn't," she admitted. "Though I'm personally enjoying all you have to offer tonight." What with the dancing and all.

Pleased with that, Nathan smiled and it was a little less smug and softer than usual. Hey, he liked compliments too.

"Well, I promised you a dance," he said, staying close to her since she hadn't objected and stroking his fingernails against her back. "Think you'll want more than that?"

"I might," she said, resting her head on his shoulder. "I was thinking of taking you back to my room later."

"Oh yeah?" Nathan liked the sound of that. He got his arms a little more securely around her, pulling her closer.

Playing along, Nathan said, "That sounds like it could be fun, Caroline. And having never been to your room before -- " Yeah, right. " -- I'd certainly be on my best behavior like any good bloke being given the honor and privilege of visiting the room of the girl he fancies. I'd be sure to keep at least five inches between us and I'd only kiss your cheek."

Lies, lies, lies, so many lies.

"And then you'd get kicked out in favor of someone who actually wanted to get his hands under my skirt," she answered sweetly. "Maybe my roommate. He's very handsy."

Nathan snickered and glanced down at her, amused.

"I was just trying to be polite," he said quietly though there was still amusement in his voice. "I thought you wanted a nice, well behaved boy tonight, Caroline. You don't? What do you want, hmm?"

Caroline lifted her head to look on him with confusion. "If I wanted well-behaved, would I hang around you?" She wasn't trying to change him, here.

Yeah, he wasn't ever going to be completely well behaved. He'd have his moments but it'd never be an consistent thing. And hey, if someone liked that, all the better for him.

"I'm not planning on changing," he assured her, shaking his head. "I was just playing along, making it seem like I'd never been to our room before. I was just messing around, being playful. I am proud to be the handsy roommate that does want to get his hands up your skirt, on your legs, around your lips, under your arms and eeeeeeverywhere I can. Everywhere."

"Oh, but it's still my room," Caroline informed him. "And always will be. No matter that you live there, too. Just call it a quirk of the only child."

"I'm an only child too and I manage to share," he pointed out, sliding his fingers up one of her arms since it was there and bare and all. Skin was so nice to touch.

"And yet, despite your inability to vocally state that the room is shared," he started, smirking, "I still want to go back to your room with you. Maybe you could finish up that dance from a few days ago. Maybe with less clothing too."

"Who knew you had stripper fantasies in that curly head of yours," she teased, enjoying just being with him for once. "All your innocence is gone."

"Oh, that innocence was gone as soon I learned how to crawl," he said, sounding strangely proud of that. "Then, it was all looking up girl's dresses and groping their tits and using my adorable baby ways to get as close to the goods as I could."

He beamed at the memory of his amazingly flirtatious young self before adding, "By the way, sometimes the upskirt looking? Not worth it. Old women have some groooooooooss things under there. I'm still getting over the trauma."

"Oh gross, I don't even want to think about you looking up my Nana's skirt," Caroline said, shuddering a little. "I mean, she aged well, of course, but noooooo."

"Oh, I guess that means you're totally innocent then, yeah?" Nathan asked, knowing full well that wasn't true. "And no one's tried to corrupt you yet? How awful! You're missing out on so much, Caroline. Just say no to being a preacher's daughter."

"Too late, I'm the sheriff's daughter," Caroline said. "But that just makes me totally bad to the bone. But not in a terrible 80s music sort of way."

"Oh yeah?" Nathan asked, raising a skeptical eyebrow. "I think I might need some proof of that. Proof of this badness you're so motivated to be. I think I need tangible proof."

"Please, I'm dancing with you, aren't I?" That was totally bad.

"Ah see, that's not bad at all," Nathan said, shaking his head. "You're using my extraordinarily bad aura as your own. I wanna see your bad, Caroline. Show me how naughty and devious you can be. You've got be anticipating it now."

Caroline looked up at him and wondered why he couldn't just enjoy dancing with her for five seconds without something crazy happening. "You're seriously in need of naughty while we're dancing?"
