Homecoming 2017, Community Centre [Saturday Evening]

Just when you thought it was time for the island's collective consciousness to maybe move on from the whole sharkicane thing... along came Homecoming! Well, the theme was actually "Under the Sea", but like the Student Council wasn't going to have glitter-encrusted sharks feature heavily in the decorations? Please.

Of course, it wasn't just sharks: there were plenty of glitter-dolphins, and fish, and octopuses octopi octopodes too. Jellyfish-shaped lights hung from the ceiling, and strategically-placed LED projectors were set up to complete the underwater ambiance.

Only yesterday? Ronan replied. Clearly I haven't made much of an impression in the past.

He made his way through the crowd, approaching Emma from behind -- although he assumed that she'd feel him coming up well enough that it wouldn't be a surprise when he spoke aloud. "Hello, love. It's good to see you."

"Oh, you made a most favorable impression in the past, but I'm quite aware that you haven't lost your touch," Emma teased as she turned around. "It's fabulous to see you, darling. When are you going to come visit us in all your world-hopping? Our New York really is splendid."

You know, when there wasn't a superhero battle going on.

He really did feel like that said everything.

"Please. Leave Portalocity to me," she said with a wave of her hand. It was...entirely possible that Emma knew exactly how to get her own way when it came to the gnomes. Probably with liberal use of telepathy.

"And of course we would. What sort of host do you think I am?"

... Ronan would be lying if he said he weren't a little scared what Emma might do to the poor Portalocity gnomes, but it was also kind of -- definitely -- hot.

"I expect to be shown all the sites," he said. "Including... whatever's biggest on Broadway at the time."

Emma just smirked, because yes, she heard that, and he wasn't wrong.

She was not very good at being a good person, she knew that. But she also knew she made moral dubiousness look hot.

"We can manage Broadway," she promised him. "I wouldn't even have to use my powers; I have season tickets to a few venues."
