Homecoming 2017, Community Centre [Saturday Evening]

Just when you thought it was time for the island's collective consciousness to maybe move on from the whole sharkicane thing... along came Homecoming! Well, the theme was actually "Under the Sea", but like the Student Council wasn't going to have glitter-encrusted sharks feature heavily in the decorations? Please.

Of course, it wasn't just sharks: there were plenty of glitter-dolphins, and fish, and octopuses octopi octopodes too. Jellyfish-shaped lights hung from the ceiling, and strategically-placed LED projectors were set up to complete the underwater ambiance.

Maybe if they were stuck in the 70's and got brain damage. Then it would work.

"I like that definition of it," Tony said, perking right up. "So, expect a shovel speech from Jan in the future. She does that sometimes."

Tony tilted a little to the side like he needed to look at it first.

"I'm sorry," Tony said with a little laugh. "I can stop if it makes you uncomfortable."

"I'm not that uncomfortable," Steve said. "Just...not really used to it."

"The compliment or the language?" Tony asked. Because the compliments were sort of part of the relationship on his end.

Steve reached out and slightly nervously slid his fingers across Tony's knuckles. "The language. I love the compliments."

"I can work on that," Tony replied, turning his hand to tsk Steve's for a quick, reassuring squeeze.

Which still inexplicably gave him a pleasant little pull in his chest. Not fair, Steve.

He pulled their joined hands up to kiss the back of Steve's before letting go.

Steve smiled softly at him. "How long do you think we have to stick around?"

Tony glanced around to see how many other chaperones there were.

"Enough to finish our drinks. That's my rule of thumb on ducking out on parties," he replied, glancing back at Steve and reaching up to tug gently on his tie. "Why? You have a hot date?"

"A very hot date," Steve said, cheeks going pink. "You'd like him."

"I don't know. I'm sort of seeing this guy," Tony replied, trying not to smile at him. "Military guy, like you. You should see him in that uniform."

"Guess that means I'll have to get him put of that uniform as quickly as possible," Tony said, taking a sip of his punch.

Which was again, to much for Tony to handle without getting completely tongue-tied. Therefore his only option beyond blurring out 'I like you so much' was to kiss him.

Steve froze for a second before relaxing into the kiss, hand coming up to cup Tony's cheek. "What will your date think?" he teased, voice gone a little deep.
