Homecoming 2017, Community Centre [Saturday Evening]

Just when you thought it was time for the island's collective consciousness to maybe move on from the whole sharkicane thing... along came Homecoming! Well, the theme was actually "Under the Sea", but like the Student Council wasn't going to have glitter-encrusted sharks feature heavily in the decorations? Please.

Of course, it wasn't just sharks: there were plenty of glitter-dolphins, and fish, and ~~octopuses~~ ~~octopi~~ octopodes too. Jellyfish-shaped lights hung from the ceiling, and strategically-placed LED projectors were set up to complete the underwater ambiance.

Old dress or new, Hyacinthe thought she looked simply gorgeous and was glad that he'd taken care with his wardrobe choices to try to do her justice.

Stepping into the dance, Hya almost wished he'd made more of an effort to convince her to stay in the hotel. Her gripped her hand tight in solidarity and then spent the rest of their entrance subtly putting himself between Ada and anyone else trying to offer her something sea-themed.

He wasn't going to suggest they leave, not until she did. But, Blessed Elua, did he was to scoop her up and let her know he thought she was one of the bravest people he'd met.

She gave his hand a little squeeze as a silent 'thank you,' because yes, she notices you protecting her, Hya.

"'S fine," she ~~lied~~ promised, giving him a little smile. "We'll find a picture backdrop that ain't horrible, an' dance th' rest of th' night away 'til we decide 's time for a different type of dancing."

"Might need t' kick Dante in th' shins for not warning me, but 's gonna be fine."

"I suppose we can spend a few more minutes saying hello before I whisk you away for a night of debauchery and indulgence," Hyacinthe said with a long-suffering sigh. "If only to get to witness you kick Dante. He's barely been around the dorms anymore, these days."

"He needs t' make more friends," she grumbled under her breath, before smirking at Hyacinthe. "--Gotta spend more'n a few minutes, otherwise we ain't gonna get th' chance t' have your way with me in a darkened corner."

"That sounds like a challenge," Hyacinthe said, eyes sparkling. "What can I get away with in a darkened corner before you make too much noise to hide it?"

"Or before you start making too much noise," she teased. "Two can play that game."

"Mmm, true, but rinkeni, I know how responsive you are," he said, running teasing fingers over the scales on the back of her neck and shoulders. "I don't have to wait to get you in a corner to start to drive you wild."

As was evidenced by the delighted shiver that went through her at his touch. "Terrible," she murmured, but didn't seem upset about it at all.

"You like me best that way," he murmured in her ear, then nipped the lobe.

Ada squirmed slightly, but refused to give him the satisfaction of making her whimper. "I like you best a lot of ways," she replied, giving him a smirk. "Don't think I can pick just one."

That was fine. He'd barely even begun his slow-onslaught seduction. "Pray, share as many as you'd like with me," he told her, running his nails lightly along the inside of her wrist. "So I know what I need to live up to."

"Hmmmmm." Ada thought about it for a moment, leaning close to him. "I like first thing in t' morning, when we ain't actually awake yet, but that's okay 'cause it means that ain't nothing real outside th' bed. 'S just us and blankets."

It was entirely possible that Ada was a little bit starved for affection.

Hyacinthe was starting to guess that, and he ran his hand up and down her arm before wrapping it around her waist.

"You mean when we curl up closer and I play with your hair a little while you swat at me because you're still sleepy?" he asked, not daring to do so now because he'd end up dislodging her hair style. "And then I either fall asleep next to you again or kiss you into wakefulness and it's all soft and dreamlike either way?"

Ada loved her family very much, and they loved her.

But they were all still stuck on their mental image of her as that little girl of eleven, screaming in pain and rage whenever someone touched her emerging scales. Uncle Chester had kissed the top of her head and told her they were happy to have her home, and that had been it for physical (or emotional) contact for the last few months, save for the cats.

"Uh-huh. Or when I wake up t' discover you've decided m' chest is your pillow," she said, slipping an arm around his waist. "An' I gotta try not t' giggle b'cause you're too cute an' I don't wanna wake you up."

It generally all ended in kisses anyway, on lazy, dreamy mornings like that.

"'Tisn't my fault they're the softest things in the bed," Hyacinthe said, escorting her further inside. "And it puts my mouth in an excellent position for when I wake up properly..."

Ada snickered and leaned in to nuzzle his neck. "Well, I like wakin' you up too, so good thing we got a few days t' take turns."

Ada wasn't really planning on them leaving her hotel room for the rest of her visit, no. Maybe make it to the Brunch if they were already awake, but she'd saved her pennies carefully -- and lifted a few wallets during Portalocity layovers -- and there was definitely enough in the budget for a few days of room service.

Hyacinthe had his own small store of coins he'd be happy to lend to the cause, especially if it meant that Ada could stay a day or so longer.

"And here, I'm tempted to stay awake every night you're here so as to not miss a moment," he teased. "Though I suppose you'll like me less once I turn into an over-exhausted bore."

"If'n you're exhausted, you won't have no energy for more fun," she pointed out, nuzzling giving way to little light kisses that spiraled up his neck. "An' that'd be a right shame."

"Maybe next school break, you come out an' visit me, if'n you ain't going home t' see your mama. Then you won't need t' stay up all night t' get your fill of me."

"I would truly love to do that," Hyacinthe said, his voice catching as her lips made speaking and breathing both a little more difficult. "A weekend's hardly enough to get my fill."
