Homecoming 2017, Community Centre [Saturday Evening]

Just when you thought it was time for the island's collective consciousness to maybe move on from the whole sharkicane thing... along came Homecoming! Well, the theme was actually "Under the Sea", but like the Student Council wasn't going to have glitter-encrusted sharks feature heavily in the decorations? Please.

Of course, it wasn't just sharks: there were plenty of glitter-dolphins, and fish, and octopuses octopi octopodes too. Jellyfish-shaped lights hung from the ceiling, and strategically-placed LED projectors were set up to complete the underwater ambiance.

No, no she did not, because Emma had TASTE.

Emma's eyes unfocused for a moment as she concentrated, and then her hair and only her hair shifted to diamond, the rest of her staying flesh-and-blood, though occasionally small ripples of stone would creep over her cheeks or down her neck, before retreating as she kept half her concentration on her powers.

"Clothes can go to the dry cleaners," she said blithely, "--getting peanut butter out of hair sounds like more work than I'd prefer."
Stone strands, however, were easy to wipe-down.

"It's hardly boring, they're still teenagers predisposed to chaos, but not having a superheroic focus means it's less world-ending trouble and more hilarious bail-money trouble. I'm just waiting for the first time any of them drunkenly visit a zoo."

"Pretty!" Charlotte said approvingly, and now she was going to reach up at those now diamond strands of hair.

"I wonder if the Tony who went to school here still has that penguin sanctuary..." Bobby mused, because speaking of drunken zoo shenanigans.

"He'd better. Those poor penguins," Emma sighed, letting Charlotte tug and play with her hair. "--and whatever else you delinquents stole. Should I be writing checks to various animal sanctuaries?"

"You should," Bobby said. "But not because we did anything bad. Just because animals are cool as heck and they weren't the ones to f- screw up the environment."

... Bobby. Your daughter was a baby telepath. Stopping yourself from saying swear words out loud was going to do all of nothing to prevent her from eventually repeating them.
