Homecoming Carnival Part I - The Park - Friday afternoon

A series of tents (in various sizes) and covered walkways had sprung up all over the park by midday. There were lots of open spaces, but one could easily get to any part of the carnival without venturing out into the sunlight. Only some of the seating and the big rides - the Ferris wheel, swings, and merry-go-round sat out in the open.

The sounds and smells reached all inhabited parts of the island and it was hard to miss all of the bright colors.

The Homecoming Carnival is open to all residents of Fandom. Weather modding says that any showers predicted for today will miss the island completely. It is a lovely fall day, if a bit warm. This is post one of two and has the concessions, seating, games, rides, and the mud pit which are all free to mod. The second post is here. OCD is up! Have fun!]]

"You definitely do," Millie said firmly. "And perhaps someday I'll find a boy of my own."

"You'll find one. I'm sure of that," said Mary.

Millie ducked her head shyly. "All the other townspeople are much older than I am and the students... well..."

"Yeah, I know how that goes. I had an interest in a student at one point," said Mary. "To be honest, I always preferred older men. They tend to treat you a lot better."

"Perhaps," Millie agreed. "But the only ones I know here are Mr. Phale and Dr. Wilson, who are quite taken with each other; and Stanley and that odd man who runs the photo place - both of whom are older than even my guardian."

Millie sighed. "I had mentioned that Stanley had been paying me a good deal of attention and Gabriel was quite bothered by that. He assured me that Stanley no doubt saw himself as a father figure and if by chance he did not, that it was highly inappropriate given the very large age difference. Which I had to agree with, of course."

Mary tried to think if there were any other men in town who were single, available, and close to Millie's age. She couldn't come up with anyone, except...

"There are two local business owners staying at the hotel who are kind of close to your age," suggested Mary. "George Michael Bluth runs the frozen banana stand that just opened. I think he's seeing that awful Joanna woman who runs the mini golf place but I don't think she's the right person for him. Then there's Sean Nast, who runs the sporting good store, but I really don't know much about him."

"Well goodness, I wouldn't want to come between two people," Millie said uncomfortably. "But perhaps I could stop in at the sporting good store. Do you think they have equipment for cricket?"

"There's only one way to find out. Go in and ask," said Mary.

"I think I will," Millie said with a smile.
