Blair didn't have ice to work with this time, but she tried to do what she could with the location she had. Luckily the beach was pretty. Besides, too much gold in the decorations tended to cross the line into tacky.

So she kept the decorations to twinkling gold lights and candles. Most of the linens were a crisp white, with golden napkins and table runners to provide pops of color.

The bulk of the gold went into the food. There were brandied apricots, lemon and chocolate cheesecakes, mango sorbets, small cups of saffron vanilla pudding, miniature stuffed yellow peppers, and any number of foods that followed the theme, along with the pies that Ned had made.

Drinks were mixed, but naturally included Goldschläger, as well as coffee and cocoa decorated with tiny gold letters which said things like "Fandom" or "Goodbye Summer."

Blair had staked out a prime table with a view of the water. She sipped at a passionfruit martini, listened to the music coming out of the various speakers she'd had set up, and looked forward to a night of ~~judging~~ watching the crowd.

She was also going to make sure nobody served those skunks. Clearly they didn't know how to hold their liquor.

"Hey!" Summer replied, taking the punch from him. "I wonder if it's spiked, yet."

"It is," Chris said, smirking a little. "I figured you wouldn't mind."

"Of course not," Summer grinned. "You are awesome. Have I mentioned that?"

Chris grinned back. "I never get tired of hearing it."

Summer leaned over and kissed him on the cheek.

Chris very skillfully turned his head to kiss her.

That was totally okay. Summer wasn't complaining. "You're so sneaky."

"Like a ninja," Chris said.

He wasn't.

"You're a dork," Summer giggled. She totally meant it in a nice way.

"Didn't stop me from scoring with the hottest chick in school," Chris pointed out.

Summer smirked. "Oh really? Are you expecting to tonight?"

"I certainly wouldn't say no."

"I didn't think so," Summer said a bit mischievously.

"What do you think my chances are?" Chris asked.

Summer smirked a little. "Guess we'll have to find out."

"Guess so," Chris agreed. "Want to explore the boardwalk a little?"

"Sure. Haven't checked it out yet," Summer replied.

Chris smiled and reached for her hand.

"How was your first week of classes?"

Summer happily let him take her hand. "Pretty good. Although we have to wear these gross uniforms in gym class. Really did nothing for my figure."

She shook her head. "How was your first week?"

"We made soap in Chemistry today," Chris said. "But I told you about the eggs in Caring for Magical Creatures and I'm still not sure how Home Ec ended up on my schedule. I suspect Wyatt."

"Think he could have had something to do with it being on my schedule?" Summer asked. "Because do I honestly look like the Home Ec type?"

"Well, you need to learn how to cook so you can be barefoot and pregnant later," Chris teased.

He didn't even try to dodge the thwap he knew was coming.

Oh yes. There was thwapping. On the back of the head. "Your chances of scoring later have plummeted dramatically."

She tried to keep a straight face as she said that.

Chris leaned over and stole a kiss. "I love you."

Summer smiled. "I know. I love you, too."
