The boardwalk, Friday evening
Blair didn't have ice to work with this time, but she tried to do what she could with the location she had. Luckily the beach was pretty. Besides, too much gold in the decorations tended to cross the line into tacky.
So she kept the decorations to twinkling gold lights and candles. Most of the linens were a crisp white, with golden napkins and table runners to provide pops of color.
The bulk of the gold went into the food. There were brandied apricots, lemon and chocolate cheesecakes, mango sorbets, small cups of saffron vanilla pudding, miniature stuffed yellow peppers, and any number of foods that followed the theme, along with the pies that Ned had made.
Drinks were mixed, but naturally included Goldschläger, as well as coffee and cocoa decorated with tiny gold letters which said things like "Fandom" or "Goodbye Summer."
Blair had staked out a prime table with a view of the water. She sipped at a passionfruit martini, listened to the music coming out of the various speakers she'd had set up, and looked forward to a night ofjudging watching the crowd.
She was also going to make sure nobody served those skunks. Clearly they didn't know how to hold their liquor.

Cal knew he should get his mind off of all of this, but...damn. His mind was still a massive swirling skull of mush and clouds and fog and it was like he didn't even know anyone else was there. All he could think about was her, reawakened obsession.

He was going to kiss her. He moved forward slightly, to do it, but then he found himself stopping, just short of it, and letting out a haggard sort of breath. Doubt had rushed in at that last moment, that last inch, and he suddenly wonder if it as all just him. Maybe Amber didn't feel that way at all, and if he kissed her now, in front of everyone... It was one thing for her to admit she liked him in private, but in public was something else entirely. If anyone knew, and then associated her with...
He blinked, and closed that last inch, but the kiss he gave was soft, and almost chaste, in direct conflict with everything that had been rushing through his a moment later, and he drew back swallowing, hoping for her sake no one saw that, and then gave a small smile.
If she had any idea how badly he did want it, would she still...? Part of him told him that the answer had to be yes, but...
Re: Eat and/or drink!
He was embarrassed to kiss her in public. He was afraid to let anyone see that he had kissed her? That... sort of hurt and at the same time she didn't want to stand for it. If he couldn't show it, then what the hell?
Frowning gently at his small smile, Amber reached up in an attempt to wrap her fingers around the base of his neck and pull him towards her and her mouth. Screw the public.

She parted her lips further in an attempt to deepen the kiss. She wouldn't kiss him for long, but she would kiss him so he knew without a doubt that she didn't care what anyone thought.
Re: Eat and/or drink!
God, Cal hated parties.
