Valentine's Dance; Town Hall; Friday Evening [8 pm - 10 pm]

Arrivals to town hall would notice that the Student Council took a darker approach to the decorations this year. The colors of the streamers, balloons and table cloths were in shades of dark red and black. Instead of cut outs of hearts and pictures of cupid, there were broken mirrors hanging on the walls, open umbrellas scattered about the room, fake cobwebs on the wall and glittery cut outs of the number "13" hung everywhere.

You even had to walk under a huge ladder in order to get into the dance.

Sure, they were tempting fate by having a Friday the 13th themed dance but this was Fandom. What's the worst that could happen?

Finding a spot where he could keep an on... things, Merlin was glad to find a shadowy corner to ~~lurk in~~ wait around in like a proper servant did. Not that he thought his services would be required tonight.

God he hoped not.

"Merlin," Arthur said, returning to him after a bit, "I may need you to fetch some actual drink."

Merlin gave him a more than slightly confused look. "Where would I find that here?"

He saw the food! There hadn't been anything of that sort over there.

"Not here, Merlin," he said, long-sufferingly. "Outside. Although not quite yet." He was still feeling comfortable after what he'd gotten earlier.

"You want me to leave the dance to get you a drink?"

"Why, Merlin. You are getting faster with time," Arthur said, dryly. "Not quite yet, however. There's still hoping. Did you find..." he trailed off, "Whatever her name is."

"Francine," Merlin said patiently. "And yes."

Oh, that beaming grin was completely unnecessary, but he couldn't quite help it.

It was a little annoying. "Good," he muttered, "Keep out of trouble."

Merlin just shot him a look. He was hardly the one who got into trouble.

...other than those times he did.

"Are you enjoying yourself so far?"

"It's a little noisy," Arthur muttered, "But it's been survivable."

Until the point he just had to drift towards Merlin without an actual plan for conversation.

Merlin leaned against the wall, watching him out of the corner of his eye. "Has Lord Leto arrived yet?"

"I've no idea," Arthur said, shooting him a look for the non-sequitur. "Why?"

"If the radio was correct, he is escorting a lady here."

"Good for him," Arthur said, matter-of-factly, with a hint of obvious confusion of his voice. "Again, I fail to see why you're even mentioning it."

"Oh. Um. Just thought you might find it interesting." Well, at least that made him feel a bit better about that whole... arrangement.

"With any luck, that'll put him in a better mood come morning," Arthur said, idly. "Dinah seems... cheery."

"Dinah always seems cheery, Arthur." It was almost relaxing to be at a function like this without the eyes of the court watching his actions around Arthur.

"Cheerier than usual," he ammended. "I'm almost worried she'll put a hole in the ceiling."

Merlin snorted once in amusement over that image. "She was very excited about the dance. Although I think she may have had some of that fizzy drink..."

"Poison." Arthur's expert opinion. "Clearly. She's been poisoned in order to destroy us with her cheer."

"It's a cunning plan. Sire." Merlin could keep this up as long as Arthur. Really. "Cheer is a dangerous weapon."

"And she wields it with deadly precision," he continued, "God help us all if she decides to use it in the name of evil."

Merlin turned to look at him on that. "Is that even possible? A cheerful evil?"

"If anyone could do it, it would be Dinah," Arthur said, dryly.

"Grown on you, has she?"
