As the sun started to set, the lights officially came on at the new community center! The building was now complete, its walls gleaming and solid in the waning light. As people began to arrive, they would notice decorations lining the tiled and bright corridors, leading them towards the large auditorium where the dance was being held.

Once inside the auditorium, there were more decorations. Streamers in the colors of summer hung from the rafters and painted the walls. There were fresh flowers in every corner and on every table, bringing fragrance and festiveness to the room. The lights were low in the auditorium, dimmed to provide both mood and setting to this party in the evening.

There were several long tables stocked full with foods of all kinds and there was even a bar with an expert bartender who'd be happy to serve you. Tips were welcome but not mandatory. Large speakers hung in the corners of the room, installed to provide the latest and greatest sound system to the new building.

Everything was completed, everything was ready so it was time to enjoy yourselves!

"I don't believe that counts as an explanation."

He was a sixteen year old boy and he wasn't blind, it was hard not to notice a pretty girl.

"No? That's too bad for you," he responded, chuckling.

Yeah okay, he got the drift. Her body was a wonderland.

She would have had a better response but, seriously, what was with the song.

"Why this song?" she accused, as if he'd had something to do with it.

He laughed as now the guy was singing about her hair falling in her face. "It's supposed to be romantic," he said, his fingers shifting a little against her side. "Or get you hot..."

Her eyes narrowed slightly as they danced. "Do not push it."

"I'm just stating the reasons why they'd play it now," he reasoned, chuckling at her response. "You've got a high opinion of yourself if you think I set up this song for you." he continued teasing.

"You are just that idiotic to have tried," she muttered. "And stubborn enough to think it a good idea."

He barked a laugh, his hands pressing a little more against her side. "Nah, getting you to dance is a victory on its own," he reasoned. "I wouldn't ruin it by pissing you off with the song choice."

Probably.

"I'm sure," she snarked, shifting pointedly in his grasp. Hands. He'd best be careful with them.

For someone who still didn't entirely grasp his own strength, he was being very careful!

"So do you actually like dancing?" he asked, changing the topic.

"Is it odd?" she asked. "That I'd care for something?"

"No," he shook his head. "It's kind of normal. Know what it is too?" he grinned at her. "Fun."

"I learnt it for work," she told him, trying to squash his assumptions. "It's only practical to keep up with it."

He shook his head. "I don't believe you," he decided.

"Of course not."

That was a sigh.

"I don't think you're hating it," he reasoned, "and you said it'd be a pleasure."

"Manners are in, I hear," she said dryly.

"But you're still not hating it," he concluded, smirking as if she'd just admitted that she did like it. "And I haven't stepped on your toes yet, that helps."

"Yes," she said levelly. "It does."

He chuckled as that still wasn't a denial and somewhere it got filed away that Rosalind enjoyed dancing. "So have you only ever done formal dances or more casual too?"

"Formal," she said, unaware of his thoughts. "I've never gone to a more casual affair."

"So no free style dancing?" he guessed.

A class or two, but nothing more.

"Not particularly."

He tilted his head. "That's not a definite no either," he pointed out.

"My class covered the basic idea of it," she clarified.
