Summer Dance/Gala Event | Evening | Saturday | June 19

As the sun started to set, the lights officially came on at the new community center! The building was now complete, its walls gleaming and solid in the waning light. As people began to arrive, they would notice decorations lining the tiled and bright corridors, leading them towards the large auditorium where the dance was being held.

Once inside the auditorium, there were more decorations. Streamers in the colors of summer hung from the rafters and painted the walls. There were fresh flowers in every corner and on every table, bringing fragrance and festiveness to the room. The lights were low in the auditorium, dimmed to provide both mood and setting to this party in the evening.

There were several long tables stocked full with foods of all kinds and there was even a bar with an expert bartender who'd be happy to serve you. Tips were welcome but not mandatory. Large speakers hung in the corners of the room, installed to provide the latest and greatest sound system to the new building.

Everything was completed, everything was ready so it was time to enjoy yourselves!

"I'm quite convinced that you're just babbling now," he said, nodding oh so seriously. Moods like this were rare for him but he liked how this one felt. "You're babbling because you have nothing."

"I don't babble," Kate gasped, clearly outraged by this claim. In a fairly joking manner. "Screw you."

"You do babble," he said and tapped her nose. "You're babbling right now in an attempt to try and make me look rather bad when, in actuality, I'm the more focused and the one with the advantage."

"Am not. You have no idea what you're talking about. I think you are the one who's babbling. Not me."

"You already admitted that you were distracted and distraught and that was due to me," he reminded her because he could. "I thought of something before you. And you've been grasping at straws for the last few minutes. I'm sorry, I think you're wrong on this one and I'm right. You're evil isn't evil anymore."

"Well, whatever," she decided, changing tactics. "My dress shows cleavage. I think I'm evil enough."

"If you say so," he said, still smiling at still having the advantage there. "Your dress is very nice. I don't think it makes you evil, though."

"Stop acting smug," she said. All about telling him what not to do, right now. Apparently.

"I see absolutely no reason to do that," he said, shaking his head. "And you've given me no reason to stop either. I hope that doesn't make you distraught. Again."

Yes, he was still being smug.

Kate rolled her eyes. "You know, this is almost making me nostalgic," she told him. "This is how infuriating you were the first couple of times we met."

"I'm allowed to be smug," he told her, tilting his head and smiling. "You're oftentimes smug at me so this is just a reverse of that. And well deserved."

"You're delusional. And you're lucky smug looks so good on you. Otherwise I might be ditching you right now."

No she wouldn't.

"You keep calling me names and it's obviously having no effect," he said, still smiling smugly, "so perhaps you should just concede."

"Never," Kate declared. "Besides, if I did that, wouldn't you just accuse me of not acting like myself? I think you should, anyway."

"There's absolutely no need for me to concede," he said without hesitation. "I've the upper hand, you're babbling and calling me names. I think I'm in a perfect position."

Oh. Hello there, perfect set-up for an attempt at some sultry distraction.

"I could think of a few better positions for you to be in."

Bod wasn't going to give into his blushing that easily even if he'd almost predicted that sort of statement was coming. He just held fast.

"I don't know if there's a better position to be in then the advantageous one I'm in right now," he said, battling back. "Is that the position you're thinking of?"

Kate shook her head, slowly. "No, that's not what I'm thinking of," she said. "Though what I am thinking of could probably be considered advantageous too. And a position of power, in a way I think you like."

"I don't know, you've been proclaiming that you're going to do this and that for a few minutes now," he said, still trying to maintain his stoicism even while he was undeniably curious. "You might just be babbling again."

"I'm not, and I haven't been," she said, and shook her head. "Also, you're going to blush and I'm going to win."

"You are and you have been," he said, still confident since he hadn't blushed yet. "I'm not going to blush and I've already won."

"Fool," she replied, rolling her eyes yet again before fixing them on his. "So, a better position that's advantageous? On top of me. In me. It's a position of power because you pretty much get to control my pleasure as well as yours. Make me twitch, and moan your name."

She paused, tilted her head, pretended to think.

"Although I guess if you'd like more power, you might want to tie me up."

...all right, that was a little harder to resist. The only reason he managed to keep a blush off his face was due to biting the inside of his cheek hard enough to get the focus away from his runaway thoughts.

"I'm not a fool," he said though his voice had slipped just a bit in certainty, "and I do agree, that would be quite the advantageous and...enjoyable position."

Yes.

"You are a fool," she said, resisting a snicker. "And probably fighting really hard not to blush, right? I can't have that." Of course not. "Just think about it. Me, totally under your control, yours to experiment with..."

Bod was trying not to think about it but it was growing a little impossible. The blush didn't pop up just yet but his breathing changed a bit and he didn't respond right away.

He was fighting extremely hard not to blush. Extremely. It was almost getting tiring. "I'm not a fool. And I've still won. And I am thinking about it -- " A lot. " -- but I still won."
