Summer Dance/Gala Event | Evening | Saturday | June 19

As the sun started to set, the lights officially came on at the new community center! The building was now complete, its walls gleaming and solid in the waning light. As people began to arrive, they would notice decorations lining the tiled and bright corridors, leading them towards the large auditorium where the dance was being held.

Once inside the auditorium, there were more decorations. Streamers in the colors of summer hung from the rafters and painted the walls. There were fresh flowers in every corner and on every table, bringing fragrance and festiveness to the room. The lights were low in the auditorium, dimmed to provide both mood and setting to this party in the evening.

There were several long tables stocked full with foods of all kinds and there was even a bar with an expert bartender who'd be happy to serve you. Tips were welcome but not mandatory. Large speakers hung in the corners of the room, installed to provide the latest and greatest sound system to the new building.

Everything was completed, everything was ready so it was time to enjoy yourselves!

"Maybe." Bod wasn't actually so sure but that was probably the lingering effects of being so close and having just made out with her. "If you give me a moment or two, I might even think of something else besides those other things."

"Should I move away?" She was teasing, of course. She couldn't even really move away, stuck as she was between him and the wall. "Give you space to think?"

"Are you telling me your head is perfectly clear?" he asked, pressing just a little bit against her as he said it.

"No," she replied, after a deep breath that was probably the only thing that kept her sounding focused. "Why would I lie like that?"

"To try and tease me," he said like it was the most obvious thing in the world. "To try and make me blush. To try and get the upper hand."

"Oh, riiight," she said, acting like she remembered that only just now. "That would make sense, wouldn't it?"

"It would," he said, reaching down for one of her hands. "I almost surprised I thought of it and you didn't."

"Maybe I did," she suggested as her hand met his. "Maybe I'm bluffing."

"I don't think you are," he said, shaking his head and sounding fairly confident of that. "I think I thought of it first. You're a little slow tonight."

"Insulting," she murmured, but she didn't sound at all serious. "I'm not slow. I'm never slow."

"Then, perhaps I was just quicker than you," he decided, giving her hand a squeeze. "That just makes me slower than me."

"That's even worse," she teased, with a theatrical sigh. "Puck called you very confusable, you know."

"What?" All right, that stopped his line of teasing for the moment. "Why did he do that? I don't get confused that easily."

"He thinks you do," she said easily, shrugging a shoulder. "But he also thinks he makes sense all the time."

"Nah," she said, with a brief shake of her head. "It would get really old really quick, if you were."

"So, if you don't think that then I could, conceivably be quicker than you," he said, comforted by that statement and sliding back into his teasing. "My focus was sharper than yours."

"Hey, just because I don't think you're slow, doesn't mean I think you could be quicker than me," she had to protest. "Your focus was all blurred. I'm sure."

"So was yours," he said and tapped her chest. "Yours was blurred enough that I thought of your evil before you did. That's a little slow, Kate."

"You can keep saying that all you want, it's still not going to be true," she replied. "Stop calling me slow."

"Unfortunately, you have no way of convincing me it wasn't true," he said, smiling at her. "Unfortunate."

"I haven't a clue but if you say you're not slow," he said, leaning a bit closer to her, "I'm sure you'll think of something."

"Mmm. But what if I don't?" she wondered. "What if I'm too distraught to come up with anything?"
