Homecoming 2017, Community Centre [Saturday Evening]

Just when you thought it was time for the island's collective consciousness to maybe move on from the whole sharkicane thing... along came Homecoming! Well, the theme was actually "Under the Sea", but like the Student Council wasn't going to have glitter-encrusted sharks feature heavily in the decorations? Please.

Of course, it wasn't just sharks: there were plenty of glitter-dolphins, and fish, and ~~octopuses~~ ~~octopi~~ octopodes too. Jellyfish-shaped lights hung from the ceiling, and strategically-placed LED projectors were set up to complete the underwater ambiance.

"Well, that's an image that's never leaving my brain," Kathy said, her face in her hands. "And I'm really worried that he'll like it."

Dante grinned. "Come on," he said. "It'd be fucking hilarious!"

If you had a ridiculous camp streak, like somebody in this conversation.

"So you say until he shows up in bed wearing that and nothing else," Kathy said, literally seconds from losing it.

"That'd be fucking beautiful," Dante cackled. "Expressing himself! He'd get fucking pissed if you joked, too."

Poor Anders.

"Joked? I'd be lucky if I could breathe from laughing that hard," Kathy said. "You'd have to go on without me, I will have expired on the fucking spot."

"And it would've been worth it," Dante said. "So worth it."

"So my life is worth one rhinestone-studded cowboy hat," Kathy said, tossing her hair. "I see how it is now."

"Oh, come on. Like you wouldn't trade me for a picture of that."

"Only faster than you could blink," Kathy said with an earnest nod.

Dante grinned at her. "So, what do you think," he said. "Jacket on or off?"

Kathy paused to consider this, absolutely not taking it as an excuse ogle him, really.

Damn he was pretty. And fun and smart and caring and--how'd she get this lucky again?

"On," she said finally. "Off, you're just a guy not wearing a shirt. On, you've specifically chosen to not wear it. You make the coat-no-shirt thing a choice and look good."

"Awesome," Dante decided, reaching out to swipe up some ambient glitter. "I'm the guy without a shirt, you're the girl in the seethrough dress. We match."

"The real question is, why did Anders feel he needed to wear more layers to make up for us," Kathy said. Sure, their boyfriend was looking good--very good--tonight, but seeing him in the sweater just made Kathy's fingers itch to peel him out of it.

"He went total pretentious hipster," Dante sighed. "Fucker had to look good like that too."

"Right?" Kathy exclaimed. "That's just rude. He's got, like, this whole young, hot librarian thing going on and--yeah, yeah, I know, not your kink."

But she was already planning on going through some gifs till she found one of people banging against a bookcase for a new update to Multiples.

"I dunno, I could do a librarian if he looked like that," Dante mused. "Muss up that pretty hair of his some more."

"Drag him deep into the stacks," Kathy said with a dreamy smile. "Rumple that sweater something fierce."

"There's something to be said about getting a guy out of a hipster grandpa sweater," Dante mused.

Hi, mental image.

"...Why stop at the sweater?" Kathy asked, leaning in to whisper a few key suggestions into Dante's ear.

Dante sighed softly. "'cause it's nice," he said. "No sweater, jeans on--"

Oh right, crap. Public party. "... But we'll get to that later."

"So, the plan is to pounce on Anders before he even knows what's what?" she asked, a predatory smile flickering over her face. "Later, I mean. After we go home."

Because, again, public party.

"Yep," Dante said, fixing her with a sunny... smirk. "Sounds like a plan to me."

"And before then...wanna dance?" she asked, quirking an eyebrow at him. "Just a little while," she added. "I don't wanna take time away from you saying hi to people."

She knew he missed Ada and Isabela, at least.

"Always wanna dance," Dante said, reaching for her hand.
