Friday Evening: Town Hall: Homecoming (8pm - 10pm)

The first thing that might be noticed when students walked into the Town Hall was the towering stone troll statues that had been dragged in to grace the corners of the dance floor.  It being Homecoming and a semi-formal dance, the trolls were decked out appropriately in hats, glitter, and togas.  Fairy lights were strung across the ceiling, some twined with streamers and some dripping glitter and confetti across the dance floor.

The walls were decorated with blown up pictures of significant events at Fandom: Graduations, the school blowing up, the Christmas pageants, plays, carnivals, zombies, all the moments that make Fandom Fandom.  Given a place of honour on the walls were a mock up of an exploding volcano, a massive gremlin in a bow tie, and, of course, the Stickbug flag.

Large lit up snowmen congregated around the punch bowl against a snowy backdrop and across the ballroom near the stage, there was a mural of large dinosaurs reaching up to enjoy a glittery streamer dinner.  The wall of the door though had the biggest picture of all - a painting of the island at night from across the water.

As students dropped off their wraps, they were pointed to vote for Homecoming Court then encouraged to proceed into the ballroom.

[OOC:  Chaperones and Security please ping in as soon as possible.  The second post will be going up in about five hours (or when browsers start to break) but this post is very SP friendly.  PLEASE wait for the OCD is UP and POST IS OPEN]

Aly looked struck as a flash of hurt crossed her face. "I didn't know my dance card was subject to the approval of others."

"I rather hope it's not, but I don't wish to cause you more trouble," he replied, still in the same soft voice.

"I don't consider people I care about a source of trouble," she murmured. "But I can understand your point of view."

He let out a breath. "Does that mean you're retracting the question?"

"No," Aly replied. "Just that if you thought it would be too much trouble to accept, I would understand."

"No," he replied, meeting her eyes. "I'd more regret missing the dance. It's not every day you find a chess partner who makes an as good dance partner."

Aly smiled at him. "I'll have you know I dance better than I play chess."

"Really?" he asked, a small smile curving his lips for the first time. "I forgot to compare last time, I'll have to try it out now."

"Well, now I'll be asking for a point by point comparison," she said, relaxing enough to tease. "So you'd better pay attention."

"I'll write you up a report," he offered and held out his hand to her in invitation.

Aly slipped her hand into his to let him lead her out to the floor. "You sure it won't get slipped in with all that paperwork and forgotten?"

His fingers closed around hers, feeling the warmth of her hand through the glove. "I wouldn't allow it to," he assured her as he led her off to the dance floor (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomtownies/2130468.html?thread=94615588#t94615588).
