Friday Evening: Town Hall: Homecoming (8pm - 10pm)

The first thing that might be noticed when students walked into the Town Hall was the towering stone troll statues that had been dragged in to grace the corners of the dance floor. It being Homecoming and a semi-formal dance, the trolls were decked out appropriately in hats, glitter, and togas. Fairy lights were strung across the ceiling, some twined with streamers and some dripping glitter and confetti across the dance floor.

The walls were decorated with blown up pictures of significant events at Fandom: Graduations, the school blowing up, the Christmas pageants, plays, carnivals, zombies, all the moments that make Fandom Fandom. Given a place of honour on the walls were a mock up of an exploding volcano, a massive gremlin in a bow tie, and, of course, the Stickbug flag.

Large lit up snowmen congregated around the punch bowl against a snowy backdrop and across the ballroom near the stage, there was a mural of large dinosaurs reaching up to enjoy a glittery streamer dinner. The wall of the door though had the biggest picture of all - a painting of the island at night from across the water.

As students dropped off their wraps, they were pointed to vote for Homecoming Court then encouraged to proceed into the ballroom.

"A friend taught me to dance this week," she said with a smile. "It's mostly moving in time to the music and the other person. We, er, seem to handle the latter rather expertly, so perhaps adding music in won't be too hard?"

Valentine laughed a little.

"Perhaps you ought to stand on my toes, just to be on the safe side."

After all, he typically didn't need fancy footwork when they normally ... moved in time with one another.

"Won't I smash your toes, if I do that?" she asked. "I'd hate for you to be grimacing while we waltz."

"I think it's preferable to the rather more certain possibility that I smash your toes if we don't dance this way," he said, laughing a little. "And I'm fairly certain my toes and I can handle it."

Naminé stepped very, very carefully onto the edge of his shoes, with a nervous laugh. "Should I begin to threaten your circulation, you will tell me, won't you?"

"Absolutely," he agreed with a nod. "After all, if I don't, we'll most likely wind up in a heap on the floor, and that won't do at all."

He put his arms around her. This was how it was done, right?

Naminé looped her arms around Valentine's neck. "I don't know that I would object," she said, in a very low whisper. "But we would probably be kicked out."

Valentine's jaw didn't just hit his chest.

But it did make it rather close.

He then grinned and kissed her nose. It was a very kissable nose.

"And would that really be so bad?"

"Perhaps we should try not to get kicked out just yet," Naminé observed. "There's always later this evening. And you know, I think you might be a horrible influence on me. I'm sure I wasn't this forward before."

Valentine smiled as they swayed to the music. This dancing stuff wasn't so difficult.

Just as long as he couldn't step on any toes.

"And that's a horrible thing?"

"I used to be very proper," she assured him with only the hint of a smile. "Never the type to intimate such things."

"Well, I'm most certainly not complaining," Valentine said, deciding to back that statement up with another kiss to the nose. "But if you insist, I suppose I could try to be less forward in the future."

Oh yes. Feel the sincerity.

"You know, the last time you offered that ..." she mused, and then flushed harder. "I think perhaps the result was not less forwardness."

Valentine seemed perhaps just a little amused.

"Wasn't that at a dance, as well? The one on the rooftop?"

"No, I meant --" Naminé flushed a deeper red. "Y-yes. On the roof, certainly."

He was trying so very hard not to laugh.

So he figured he would stifle his laughter with a kiss.

That was what dances were for, wasn't it?

... Of course it meant that he was giggling into her mouth. Oops.

Naminé interrupted the kiss - which had already been interrupted by his giggling - for a glare. "You're awful!" she laughed. "You know exactly what I ... you see, this is why you're going to be alone later tonight. Because of this."

This, of course, only caused him to laugh a little harder and give her a bit of a squeezy hug.

"I have the feeling that it will be entirely worth it," he chuckled.

"Sleeping alone?" she laughed. "You had better hope so. I hope this is terribly funny, in that case."

"Oh, come now," he said, bumping his forehead against hers, "my company can't be all that bad, can it?"

"I'd say your company is rather pleasant," she mused. "Which is why I shall be so sorry to be missing it, tonight, when I fall asleep in my own room because you are incorrigible and can't behave."

"You want me to behave? I could offer to be less forward again, would that help?"

Naminé stopped dancing for a moment to give him a light - but lingering - kiss.

"Perhaps I'll forgive you, just this once," she said, eyes dancing.

It didn't even occur to him to start dancing again when the kiss was finished. He just smiled down at her, perhaps a little awestruck.

"You really are amazing, you know."

Naminé was quite possibly awestruck herself. "I ... I l-love you."

It was still hard to say. She hoped he understood.
