The first thing that might be noticed when students walked into the Town Hall was the towering stone troll statues that had been dragged in to grace the corners of the dance floor. It being Homecoming and a semi-formal dance, the trolls were decked out appropriately in hats, glitter, and togas. Fairy lights were strung across the ceiling, some twined with streamers and some dripping glitter and confetti across the dance floor.

The walls were decorated with blown up pictures of significant events at Fandom: Graduations, the school blowing up, the Christmas pageants, plays, carnivals, zombies, all the moments that make Fandom Fandom. Given a place of honour on the walls were a mock up of an exploding volcano, a massive gremlin in a bow tie, and, of course, the Stickbug flag.

Large lit up snowmen congregated around the punch bowl against a snowy backdrop and across the ballroom near the stage, there was a mural of large dinosaurs reaching up to enjoy a glittery streamer dinner. The wall of the door though had the biggest picture of all - a painting of the island at night from across the water.

As students dropped off their wraps, they were pointed to vote for Homecoming Court then encouraged to proceed into the ballroom.

"I missed you. Everyone else takes me seriously."

"I can't even take myself seriously," she said honestly. "Speaking of which, while helping save the world last week I was told I need to tell you stuff."

Sam stared. "Who are you and what have you done with Jaye Tyler?"

"Yeah, I know. But no, seriously, I helped save the world by opening cereal boxes and throwing groceries. I had nothing better to do," she explained. "Also there was a Jack?"

"You saw him? How is he?" Sam was thrilled just to hear he was still alive and in one piece. "And could you go back to the cereal and grocery throwing for just a second?"

"He called me up because he was looking for some decoder ring in LA, so we broke into a store and tore open boxes until the evil guy with the glasses and the robots on the crush on me tried to laser us and yeah, he's good."

Blinking was good. "Oh, that's...that's great. Congratulations on saving the world. You get store-bought cookies for that, you know."

"Score!" she said. "So anyway, he got gishy? Which is a word I made up just for him regarding this, but he wants me to tell you that he's still yours. Also, hi." He hadn't added in that last part, but otherwise Jaye felt like a dork saying it.

Sam beamed at Jaye like a big dork. "Thanks. We usually try and keep the gish to ourselves, but I didn't know if or when I was going to hear from him again."

"Well, it's okay, because I think I get to tease him forever about the gish," she said. "It all works out."

"I can't believe you saved the world. We're gonna have to get you a pen or something. How're things?"

"It's been pretty damn good the last few weeks. I can get used to this," Jaye said. "What about you, besides firefighters? Will my pen write upside down?"

"And underwater," she nodded. "Hmmm. Smoke, cello, new cat, firefighters, and lots of outdoors activities. Rock-climbing, camping, survival skills training--things like that."

Jaye stared at her. "Your life is way more interesting than mine. But I'm keeping the pen I don't have yet."

"It's not that interesting, plus I bet yours has fewer mosquitos." She scratched at the back of her neck.

"We have vampires though. Bigger teeth," she pointed out.

"Angel's still..." She waved her hands in a vague gesture that could have meant anything but was supposed to indicate goodness and not snacking on people.

Jaye frowned, not sure what the gesture was. "No, I don't think he's joined any ballet."

"Well, that's too bad, because really, the first thing I remember about Angel is his grace and dancing ability."

Jaye thought this over. "Maybe I can pay him to try it."

"How much would I have to pay you to tape it?"

"Depends on what his fee is," she said. "I'll get back to you when I've negotiated the price."

"I can definitely kick in, plus I'll pay Kawalsky's share." She grinned. "Skywalker has to pay his own way."

"Get enough drinks in him, he'll probably pay extra," Jaye pointed out.

"Or gremlin bit," she added.
