Friday Evening: Town Hall: Homecoming (8pm - 10pm)

The first thing that might be noticed when students walked into the Town Hall was the towering stone troll statues that had been dragged in to grace the corners of the dance floor. It being Homecoming and a semi-formal dance, the trolls were decked out appropriately in hats, glitter, and togas. Fairy lights were strung across the ceiling, some twined with streamers and some dripping glitter and confetti across the dance floor.

The walls were decorated with blown up pictures of significant events at Fandom: Graduations, the school blowing up, the Christmas pageants, plays, carnivals, zombies, all the moments that make Fandom Fandom. Given a place of honour on the walls were a mock up of an exploding volcano, a massive gremlin in a bow tie, and, of course, the Stickbug flag.

Large lit up snowmen congregated around the punch bowl against a snowy backdrop and across the ballroom near the stage, there was a mural of large dinosaurs reaching up to enjoy a glittery streamer dinner. The wall of the door though had the biggest picture of all - a painting of the island at night from across the water.

As students dropped off their wraps, they were pointed to vote for Homecoming Court then encouraged to proceed into the ballroom.

"Anything I'm going to do is going to happen after the End of Days," he said, and then actually laughed a little. "Imagine how I must feel, being hundreds of years old and still living at home with my father."

"Point," she conceded. "At least you're up here now, though?"

"Very true." There was a bit of a pause as he considered the situation. "And you know, I like it here. I'm in no hurry to go back."

"It's pretty sweet here," she agreed. "Sun, and plants, and fresh air."

"This place smells so much better than brimstone," he stated with a nod. The most Hellish smelling thing about the place so far was himself, and he didn't smell too strongly of burned ink and roses. At least, he didn't figure he did. People were informing him that it was very interesting cologne, anyhow.

"The weather is certainly more moderate here, too."

"Cooler, I guess?"

"By far." He considered for a moment. "Unless my father is around. He makes the temperature of any room drop more than just a few degrees."

Blackheart figured that was his old man's way of making a flashy entrance. While he did the same thing from time to time, he was still quite certain that a rain of hellfire was far more in fashion than a simple chill.

"So do you have powers?" she wondered, because she'd never really gotten to talk to a demon before, somehow.

"Well, yeah. The usual, really. Lights flickering off and on, igniting candles, rains of hellfire, sudden chills, basically all of those things that go hand-in-hand with a bump in the night."

He'd tactfully decided to leave out the whole 'sucking out people's souls and replacing them with sulfuric poison' part.

How courteous of him.

"Handy," she replied thoughtfully. "Used them recently?"

"I lit a candle for show-and-tell in Pop Culture class yesterday," he said, then considered for a moment more. "And when I came here, there was a rain of fire."

Flashy entrances.

"I wish I could do that," Pam said enviously. "Walk into a room and whoosh, look, a bunch of candles are lit, or something."

He didn't intend for his chuckle to be half as creepy as it probably was, honest.

"My father and I don't agree much on the whole 'well lit room' issue. He'll wave a hand, and out go the lights. I'll turn them on again. It's a constant argument, just so I'm not doing homework in the dark."

Another reason why it was really nice up here.

"There's homework in Hell?"

For some reason, that threw her.

"It is Hell, you know."

Blackheart figured that homework was a perfectly evil thing, and therefore was quite wonderfully suited to exist in Hell.

"Yeah, but isn't that relative? Some people are really booky and like homework," she pointed out.

"Even demons receive educations, you know," he countered. "The homework is more for the demons than the damned. I doubt the educational system would really do them much good, anyhow."

He paused for a moment.

"Besides, I was home-schooled up until he sent me here."

"Well, you know, colleges do look for well-rounded types," she deadpanned. "Probably good that you're broadening things."

"But what would I major in?"

Did they offer world domination as a credited course?

"Poli Sci."

"You're quite possibly a genius."

She grinned. "I try."

"I'll have to keep you and your brain in mind when I take over the world with my future Poli Sci major," he laughed. "Might come in handy."

"As long as I'm useful," she said, kind of hoping he was joking.

"Of course." He was mostly joking. Really. Kind of. Maybe. "That is, provided I get around to it within your lifetime."
