Friday Evening: Town Hall: Homecoming (8pm - 10pm)

The first thing that might be noticed when students walked into the Town Hall was the towering stone troll statues that had been dragged in to grace the corners of the dance floor.  It being Homecoming and a semi-formal dance, the trolls were decked out appropriately in hats, glitter, and togas.  Fairy lights were strung across the ceiling, some twined with streamers and some dripping glitter and confetti across the dance floor.

The walls were decorated with blown up pictures of significant events at Fandom: Graduations, the school blowing up, the Christmas pageants, plays, carnivals, zombies, all the moments that make Fandom Fandom.  Given a place of honour on the walls were a mock up of an exploding volcano, a massive gremlin in a bow tie, and, of course, the Stickbug flag.

Large lit up snowmen congregated around the punch bowl against a snowy backdrop and across the ballroom near the stage, there was a mural of large dinosaurs reaching up to enjoy a glittery streamer dinner.  The wall of the door though had the biggest picture of all - a painting of the island at night from across the water.

As students dropped off their wraps, they were pointed to vote for Homecoming Court then encouraged to proceed into the ballroom.

Will laughed at that. "I think it would be pretty strange if you ended up as a stagette."

"I was a kitten for most of yesterday."

Will blinked a couple of times at the news. She couldn't picture her little brother as a tiny kitten.

"Really? How'd that happen?"

"I have no idea. I heard Dean Jones say that a bunch of students turned into animals, so it might have been whatever made that happen."

"Wild. I guess it's just typical fandom weirdness at play." She let out a giggle. "And I have to admit that every time I hear 'Dean Jones', I keep thinking of that actor from 'The Punchbuggy of Love' (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dean_Jones_(actor))."

"I've never seen that, but it does sound like a real name. Wouldn't it be weird if we had a Dean named Dean?"

"What, Dean Dean? I think I'd die of laughter if that ever happened."

"What if their name was all ready Dean Dean? Then they'd be Dean Dean Dean."

Will broke out into a long laugh at the name that lasted for a good minute. "Even if they were like a tough drill sargent or something, I could not talk to Dean Dean Dean without laughing."

"Sir yes sir Dean Dean Dean sir sir!"

Will was laughing too hard to offer a proper response to this. She reached over to try and balance on Sully's arm to keep herself upright.

He panicked for the briefest of moments before reason kicked in. As a kitten, he'd been petted and skritched by plenty of humans and hadn't thought anything of it. He'd been here for over a month and was fine. He wasn't sick, he hadn't lost his fur and he hadn't developed boils. Research back home about humans was wrong. They weren't toxic to monsters.

All of this occurred to him in an instant and he didn't pull away from Will. In fact, he offered a lopsided smile at her laughing.
