Friday Evening: Town Hall: Homecoming (8pm - 10pm)

The first thing that might be noticed when students walked into the Town Hall was the towering stone troll statues that had been dragged in to grace the corners of the dance floor.  It being Homecoming and a semi-formal dance, the trolls were decked out appropriately in hats, glitter, and togas.  Fairy lights were strung across the ceiling, some twined with streamers and some dripping glitter and confetti across the dance floor.

The walls were decorated with blown up pictures of significant events at Fandom: Graduations, the school blowing up, the Christmas pageants, plays, carnivals, zombies, all the moments that make Fandom Fandom.  Given a place of honour on the walls were a mock up of an exploding volcano, a massive gremlin in a bow tie, and, of course, the Stickbug flag.

Large lit up snowmen congregated around the punch bowl against a snowy backdrop and across the ballroom near the stage, there was a mural of large dinosaurs reaching up to enjoy a glittery streamer dinner.  The wall of the door though had the biggest picture of all - a painting of the island at night from across the water.

As students dropped off their wraps, they were pointed to vote for Homecoming Court then encouraged to proceed into the ballroom.

Laughing, Beauty nodded. "I guess it is, and there are only two of them here. His name's Greatheart, and he's a dear. Do you like horses?"

"Like animals," River replied. "Quiet, makes them easy to listen to."

"Greatheart's probably been my best friend for his whole life. I read to him, and he seems to not mind it." Beauty studied River for a moment. "I'll bet he wouldn't mind if you wanted to visit with him. He's very gentle and even-tempered."

"Would be happy to. I can bring apples." River smiled at Beauty.

"He loves apples," Beauty agreed, smiling back at River. "All I ask is that you don't try to ride him if I'm not there, but otherwise I know he'd welcome the company. I don't spend as much time with him as I used to, and I can't decide if he's grateful for that or lonely."

"I don't ride. Just talk. And occasionally braid manes." She chuckled. "Could introduce you to Berthold. Tentacled monster."

"He'll let you do that too, if you like," Beauty said, grinning. She cocked her head curiously at River. "What do you mean by tentacled monster?"

"Tentacled monster. His body consists mostly of tentacles. He's very gentle and shy, but appreciates food."

Beauty blinked several times when she realized that River was serious about the tentacles. And apparently the monster part, since that went along with tentacles. But she found it hard to imagine that River was the type to invent stories like that.

"I've...never met a tentacle monster before. I think I'd like that. What kind of food does he like?"

"Ice cream. He also tends to eat clothes, so we have to lock our wardrobes." River smiled. "You're welcome to come and meet him."
