The first thing that might be noticed when students walked into the Town Hall was the towering stone troll statues that had been dragged in to grace the corners of the dance floor. It being Homecoming and a semi-formal dance, the trolls were decked out appropriately in hats, glitter, and togas. Fairy lights were strung across the ceiling, some twined with streamers and some dripping glitter and confetti across the dance floor.

The walls were decorated with blown up pictures of significant events at Fandom: Graduations, the school blowing up, the Christmas pageants, plays, carnivals, zombies, all the moments that make Fandom Fandom. Given a place of honour on the walls were a mock up of an exploding volcano, a massive gremlin in a bow tie, and, of course, the Stickbug flag.

Large lit up snowmen congregated around the punch bowl against a snowy backdrop and across the ballroom near the stage, there was a mural of large dinosaurs reaching up to enjoy a glittery streamer dinner. The wall of the door though had the biggest picture of all - a painting of the island at night from across the water.

As students dropped off their wraps, they were pointed to vote for Homecoming Court then encouraged to proceed into the ballroom.

"Our relationship is fine," Bel growled. "Just ask him."

"And would he tell me if it wasn't?" Troy's words were short, clipped, as if he were biting off the ends. "I've seen your type before. Anders is my friend. I won't let some jackass who thinks of him as property stick around in his life."

"He's mine," Bel snapped, because sometimes he was a big dumb demon. "And nothing you can do is gonna change that."

"Watch me," Troy said, simply. "I won't let anyone hurt my friends. Not anyone I care about."

"What do you think you're gonna do?" Bel said. He flexed his fingers, letting them spark with a little fire.

The sparking fire drew Troy's eyes, but rather than intimidating him or scaring him, it merely fired his resolve; his own eyes might seem to be sparking with anger -- or was that just reflection of Bel's fire? "I'll find a way," he said. "I will not let you hurt my friend."

That was when Anders spotted the confrontation and came charging across the hall to get between them, one hand on Bel's chest.

"Back down, Troy," he said firmly. "Bel, I told you, no killing him."

"We seem to be having a difference of opinion," Bel growled. "Perhaps we should take this outside."

Because it wouldn't be Homecoming without Bel getting into a fight.

"No, Bel, c'mon," Anders said, his voice shaking just a bit. As incredibly hot as he thought it was when Bel got possessive and growly on his behalf, he really didn't want something bad to go down here.

That... was a slightly different reaction and interaction that Troy had suspected to see between them -- but whatever, he'd heard what Bel had said.

"He called you property, Anders," Troy said, practically spitting the word. "Did you know he thinks of you that way? God, he makes me sick!"

"He doesn't seem to want to accept that you're mine," Bel said to Anders, his voice still low and dangerous. "Looks like he wants to change that."

"Okay, way to take it too literally." It was Anders's turn to let fire flash in his eyes. "Believe me, there's a difference between when he says it and when a really evil being thinks of you as its property. I've been there, and I know the difference," he said, wrapping an arm around Bel's waist.

Troy shook his head. "Fine, whatever, you're happy. But you know where I am if you ever need help, Anders."

"He doesn't need help," Bel snapped, though Anders's presence was calming him down. The reference to the Source and how he'd treated Anders, however, made him noticeably flinch, and guilt flashed across his face.

Anders shook his head. "I don't need help," he echoed with a glance at Troy. "Bel and me, we're good."

Feeling the need to both prove it to Troy and take that guilty look off Bel's face, he took Bel's face in his hands and gave him a long, affection-laden kiss.

Okay, that... That was kind of hot.

Troy buried that initial reaction, just shaking his head. "Seriously?" he asked. "I mean, if you say so, but... Well, if you need help. Anytime, right?" He smiled, a bit sheepishly. "Uh, I guess I overreacted a little, but... well, you called him property. I guess I..."

He trailed off, looking away. "I'll leave you two alone, then." He started to move away.

"I said he was mine, I didn't call him property," Bel grumbled. It was technically true. Except for the bit about the tattoo.

"Troy," Anders said, holding on to Bel in what was unmistakably a possessive embrace in its own right, "have a little faith in me, will you? I don't need help, and he's good to me."

He looked at Bel and smiled. "Damn right I'm yours. 'cause I want to be."

Troy spared one last look at the couple, confusion clearly warring within him; he didn't say anything more, instead just turning and leaving them alone.
