Friday Evening: Town Hall: Homecoming (8pm - 10pm)

The first thing that might be noticed when students walked into the Town Hall was the towering stone troll statues that had been dragged in to grace the corners of the dance floor. It being Homecoming and a semi-formal dance, the trolls were decked out appropriately in hats, glitter, and togas. Fairy lights were strung across the ceiling, some twined with streamers and some dripping glitter and confetti across the dance floor.

The walls were decorated with blown up pictures of significant events at Fandom: Graduations, the school blowing up, the Christmas pageants, plays, carnivals, zombies, all the moments that make Fandom Fandom. Given a place of honour on the walls were a mock up of an exploding volcano, a massive gremlin in a bow tie, and, of course, the Stickbug flag.

Large lit up snowmen congregated around the punch bowl against a snowy backdrop and across the ballroom near the stage, there was a mural of large dinosaurs reaching up to enjoy a glittery streamer dinner. The wall of the door though had the biggest picture of all - a painting of the island at night from across the water.

As students dropped off their wraps, they were pointed to vote for Homecoming Court then encouraged to proceed into the ballroom.

He kind of was, and it was kind of irritating. "Oh, like pretending to be other people or whatever."

"That's interesting."

It wasn't.

"Is he the one that keeps calling me 'Johnny?"

Like he didn't have enough nicknames in this place already, he really didn't want radio perpetuating more.

~~The mun, on the other hand, is collecting the nicknames and loves them all.~~

"Yeah," Pam said, smiling. "Because there are so many already."

Huh. At least she was smiling.

"Clever." Not really. Let's go out on a limb, here. "You enjoy doing radio with him."

She shrugged, still smiling. "He's my best friend."

"And you didn't ask him to come to this dance?"

Tact? What?

Pam blinked. "Um. He has a date. And we're just friends."

Note the order on that.

Blackheart wasn't at all skeptical. Really.

"So going to the dance with a stranger is better than going with a friend?"

No, really, he was actually curious about this one, and he even looked it. Mortals were so confusing.

"He had a date already. So I needed one. And you seemed nice," she replied, crossing her arms. "So why not?"

"I simply thought it was interesting that you mentioned you were only friends at all," Blackheart said, looking genuinely perplexed.

How in the world did mortals ever manage to procreate, with their obscure and confusing mannerisms? The whole species should be extinct by now, by Blackheart's logic.

Strange creatures.

"It would be weird," she replied, trying to explain and failing.

"So... it isn't weird to go to a dance with someone you don't really know, and it isn't weird to go to a dance with someone you know very well. But it is weird to go to a dance with a friend?"

...

Perhaps this is why Blackheart typically chose not to have friends in the first place.

"In this case," she replied vaguely.

Blackheart was really quite confused, now.

"What makes this different from every other case?"

If he was overstepping his boundaries here... He really wasn't aware of it. And probably wouldn't care if he was.

"Lots of stuff," she said, scuffing a foot. "So what's Hell like?"

Best segue ever.

...

"Hellish?"

How was he supposed to answer that?

Pam raised her eyebrows, deeply intrigued. Really. "How'd you end up here?"

"My father sent me here," he replied. No, he wasn't growling. Quite. "I imagine he wanted me out of the way so that he could do... whatever it is he likes to waste his time on nowadays."

Bitter son. Bitter, bitter son.

"Oh. Lots of stuff to do down there in Hell, huh?" she offered.

"Plenty, if you aren't me." He crossed his arms and tried not to look too bitter, here. "I suppose while I'm here, I've at least got an opportunity to do more than wait about for the End of Days and study."

He looked thoughtful for a moment.

"The sun is interesting. I'd never seen that before."

She stared at him. "...well, there you go! The sun! Sun's nice, huh? And there's tons of stuff to do up here. Do they have cable in Hell?"

"Cable would probably make it decidedly less Hellish," Blackheart informed her, raising an eyebrow. "If there was television in Hell, I think it would probably be restricted to the same fine programming you were watching last night. There's a precedent to uphold, after all."

Hell sucked.

"...so are you dead?" she wondered.

"...No?" He answered.

"...so what were you doing down there?"
