The first thing that might be noticed when students walked into the Town Hall was the towering stone troll statues that had been dragged in to grace the corners of the dance floor. It being Homecoming and a semi-formal dance, the trolls were decked out appropriately in hats, glitter, and togas. Fairy lights were strung across the ceiling, some twined with streamers and some dripping glitter and confetti across the dance floor.

The walls were decorated with blown up pictures of significant events at Fandom: Graduations, the school blowing up, the Christmas pageants, plays, carnivals, zombies, all the moments that make Fandom Fandom. Given a place of honour on the walls were a mock up of an exploding volcano, a massive gremlin in a bow tie, and, of course, the Stickbug flag.

Large lit up snowmen congregated around the punch bowl against a snowy backdrop and across the ballroom near the stage, there was a mural of large dinosaurs reaching up to enjoy a glittery streamer dinner. The wall of the door though had the biggest picture of all - a painting of the island at night from across the water.

As students dropped off their wraps, they were pointed to vote for Homecoming Court then encouraged to proceed into the ballroom.

Gavin was finally clean and not soaking wet when arriving into the hall. And wow, it was...flashy.

"Wow," he said and blinked.

"I'll say," Inara gave him a once-over as she came up behind him, smoothing her hair up, but content with the dress (http://www.onlygowns.com/purchase/productdetail.asp?cgmain=102&cgsub=131&prodid=189) she'd selected. "You seem to have dried out nicely."

"I didn't get that wet," he said, mock glaring at her. "No thanks to you."

"I'd be lying if I said it was a lucky shot," she laughed.

"Uh huh," he said and reached for her hand. "I have no idea what to do at these sort of things."

"You're doing most of it already," she took his hand and held it. "We talk to people we already know, look attractive, and eat and drink. Maybe with a little dancing."

"Dancing," he said, still a little afraid of that. "Uh. I can try."

"You don't have to," she said, resting her cheek against his arm. "In case I didn't say it earlier, you look extremely handsome."

"No, I've been practicing," he said proudly and kissed the top of her head. "I can do it. Just might slip a little."

"Really? Gavin, that's so sweet! And I don't care if you slip."

"I know," he said and left out who he'd been practicing with. "And thank you for saying I look nice. Ties are weird."

"You can take it off, if you want," she offered, "and I wouldn't say it if it wasn't true."

"I think I can manage for a little longer," he said. "You're beautiful."

"Thank you," she squeezed his hand. "I wasn't sure if what I bought was appropriate."
