Homecoming Brunch, The Park, Sunday Morning

The glitter moosen and beavers had been moved to the park to stand friendly guard around a cluster of tents, tables and chairs. Underneath, the Homecoming events rolled on with another maple-themed buffet and plenty of space for standing around and chatting.

The sound system played kd lang and Leonard Cohen at a low volume, to gently welcome anyone who might have gotten into the punch last night after it was spiked. This event was decidedly hangover-friendly.

Homecoming Dance | Town Hall | Saturday Evening | Post I

Glitter encrusted moosen stood guard in the entry to the transformed Town Hall, reminding all those in attendance that the night was about all things Canadian. Or things the Student Council had deemed Canadian - plus a whole lot of glitter.

Sparkly red maple leaves and paper geese hung from irridescent streamers, setting off the food tables as very much separate from the raised dance floor in case the terrifying papier-mâché beaver didn't make it obvious that the timbits were for eating. Or for dunking in the maple syrup fountain. Beyond pure sugar, there were plenty of bite-size portioned food and nonalcoholic beverages to push the theme into the bellies of all, no matter how tight the dresses!

Beyond the dance floor, the shadowy corners glowed with the twinkle of glittery maple leaf garland and a Joni Mitchell inspired moose that had been strategically positioned to look rather tragic in its lyric-covered glory. Yes, glory. For the evening was to be glorious. Or at the very least entertaining.

Welcome to your 2011 Homecoming Dance!

Homecoming Carnival Post I [The Park, Friday, October 21, 2011]

Welcome, one and all, to the Fandom High Homecoming Carnival! Here you'd find red and white decorations abound, including just about everything maple-leaf emblazoned imaginable, an assortment of moose-related things (including a crossing sign), and an assortment of delicious foods.

Rides, games and activities were set up all over the park, and an enormous set of speakers was playing a Canadian Greatest Hits playlist that seemed to be disproportionately Bieber-centric.

All the joy of Canada was brought to you by your friendly neighborhood Student Council. Enjoy!

Outside Luke's - Sunday Afternoon

Kyle had a list of things he wanted to do in Fandom before he went home. Being on hold with Portalocity's customer service was not one of them. He'd waited over an hour in his room, waiting for the annoying music and intermittent service messages to stop. After that, he decided that he wasn't sitting in his room any more.

He made it to the road outside of Luke's when the music finally stopped and the customer service agent spoke. Kyle gave her the details of his portal so he could find out why they wanted him to call back.

"No, my portal is leaving tonight." Pause. "It's been booked for weeks!" Pause. "Maybe it's under a different name." Pause. "Canceled? It can't be canceled. I'm supposed to go tonight. They're waiting for me. I- yes, I know it's a busy weekend. I know, Iceland. There was a viking thing. Re-booking? What is that?"

Kyle frowned at the phone after hanging up. It looked like he wasn't leaving today after all. They'd call him back once they managed to figure out when they could book him a new portal. Damn it.

Caritas- Saturday

Today was weird, if that even needed to be said. Going to graduation and remembering that she'd done that just last year except it was six years ago now was odd enough, and then there had been Vikings, which Jaina could identify due to that one night a couple months ago she'd Googled "Vikings" and ended up stuck in a Wikipedia loop for three hours.

Once she'd finished with all things graduation, she'd gone to Caritas a little late for her very last shift. That was somehow stranger than what had happened at the ceremony, and she was firmly not dealing with any sadness or any thinking about how she was gone in a few days. No, tonight she was repressing and making herself a drink because it was her last night and she could, and also advertising a special.

1/2 OFF FOR GRADUATES AND THEIR GUESTS
(Some people might really need it today)

Devil's Nest, Tuesday Night

Emma was still a bit distracted when she made her way into work, to the point she was almost late. She wasn't, but it was a near thing.

The fact she couldn't remember most of her weekend was driving her insane. There were flashes, bits, and pieces, but nothing that made sense. Still, the Devil's Nest was open, and it would provide a good enough distraction for her tonight.

Atlas Gym | Monday Afternoon

As far as weird ass Fandom weekends went, this one hadn't been terrible. For one thing, Rose hadn't accidentally slept with anyone (or had a threesome, Caroline) and for another, apparently there was some universe where she was still alive in twenty years. Still alive and in love with Lissa - she was trying to only think about that first part.

But with the weirdness of the weekend over, she was free to obsess over how to handle the situation at Court. It turned on either convincing Dimitri that they had to do their own investigating into the Queen's death and the possibility of Lissa's sibling or getting away from him to investigate on her own.

Rose had been surprised by how empty the gym was when she got there, but for once, it sort of suited her mood. She'd even been able to dig through old (clean, thank you) laundry and lost and found to find some of her old stuff to wear as she worked out. Next step probably should be Pixie Dust for more clothes. But for now, she was working the heavy bag, letting the familiar rhythms of punching and kicking take over.

[The gym is open though without OCD]

Our Lady of Fandom | Sunday Morning

A near constant in the past twenty years for Bobby was church on Sunday.  The past ten or so had made Sundays the busiest day of his week, and while he supposed he could have gone off-island to continue that trend, he felt called instead to the old stone church on the island.

It wasn't nearly appropriate to celebrate a Eucharist in a church he was neither installed in or invited to, but that never had seemed to matter at Fandom, and after saying his own prayers, Bobby found himself moving through the liturgy, partially out of habit and partially because it felt very - and oddly - right.

He wasn't sure the last time the Eucharist had been celebrated in this church - and Bobby was pretty certain that it probably had not been celebrated recently with an overly large cinnamon roll he'd gotten from J,GoB before he realised where he was going to end up.  His priest tools had wine and holy water, but Bobby had a dislike of those wafers that could last a thousand years and never packed them.  So this very Fandom service had wine and cinnamon roll.  It seemed appropriate.

[OOC: Open church!  In the OCD threads, there's a bit of the sermon Bobby would give so would that be offensive to you, do be aware when you click]

Fandom High 20 Year Reunion Brunch, Community Center, Sunday Morning

Although the weekend was almost over, the esteemed alumni of Fandom High were not getting away without one last get-together. The park had been deemed too cold for the event, so the community center had been set up again with tasteful blue and yellow streamers and real flowers on the tables, although there might have been a few paper flowers still lying around from last night too.

There was plenty of food just waiting to be eaten, and if someone asked nicely, they might be able to acquire a drink or two as well. It was five o'clock somewhere.

Caritas- Saturday

Jaina had spent some time at the mixer, but she had to admit she'd been sort of drawn to Caritas. Saturdays had been her night and for some strange reason she was a little nostalgic today. She couldn't resist stopping in for at least a little while to tell Tino everything she'd been up to, despite- or more accurately, because of- the fact that he'd never cared about his coworkers' personal lives in the slightest, and to head behind the bar.

Just because she could. And because she never got to do things like this anymore. For some reason empresses didn't tend bar much, who knew?

...Empresses probably also didn't consider lining the bar up with champagne glasses and trying that pouring trick she'd perfected at Mirta's wedding, and yet here she was, considering it.

[Up now because it's TAH night and I leave at 6!]

Fandom High 20 Year Reunion Mixer, Community Center - Saturday Evening

If anyone could recall the dance from the night before, they would have thought that it was decorated tastefully compared to what was going on tonight. There were streamers, balloons and what appeared to be paper flower ornaments everywhere. All done in yellow and blue for the proud graduates of Fandom High, of course.

And there were the 'classic' songs from twenty years ago blaring loudly for people to dance or cringe to. Who knew Ke$ha and Justin Bieber would get to be classic pop music for future generations?

Just be glad there is an open bar.

The Park - Late Friday Afternoon.

Rose had gotten herself a cup of hot chocolate from the Perk, but she wasn't into sitting around inside. She was way too restless to stay still so she wandered around the island, staying carefully away from MCA and certain parts of the beach. There was a pink tree in the park that seemed more peaceful than the rest of the island, but she wasn't feeling the urge for peaceful and made her way over to the swings instead.

Swings were always awesome tyvm even if she was 19. She pulled out her phone, finally punching in the numbers of some people she hadn't seen for way too long. Calls done, Rose pumped her legs, seeing if she could achieve the ever-elusive 360 over the bars and wondered exactly why Lissa had sent her here. It didn't make any more sense than it had before, but she was starting to enjoy the idea more as she kept an eye out for anyone she knew.

[OOC: Open park, feel free to mod a call from Rose if you wish unless you're a STRIGOI. I missed my girl.]

Atlas Gym | Friday

His Cardio Funk class over for the day, John decided to open the front doors to the gym and let in some fresh air.

Days like this had him missing Atlantis. All that alien ocean air and trips to verdant worlds. But hey, Atlantis didn't have stuff like chili dogs for lunch. And damn if John wasn't gonna stuff his face with one of those later.

[OCD ran off to play in the sun]

Homecoming Brunch, The Park, Sunday Morning/Afternoon

Even though it was daytime, the "dolphins in space" theme had been carried over to the brunch. The mural was nowhere to be found, but inside the tent that had been set up to give everyone a shady place to gather, there were silver and blue metallic streamers and balloons hung up, and each of the tables had a blue flower arrangement on it.

There were no fish to be found though, unless you counted what could be on the food table. Honestly, that might not really be fish either.

Atlas Gym - Tuesday

Huh. It was Rose's last shift at the gym. In like - she checked the clock - 36 hours, she'd be leaving Fandom for good and heading on back to her real life. She wasn't thinking about it.

It was just a normal day at the gym. Normal chores, normal work, normal music. Everything normal except the growing pile of Rose's stuff that ended up next to the desk as she tried to find everything she'd left at the gym over the past year.

Fast Eddies | Friday Night

Nine months ago, if given a choice was between packing, training, and getting out of the apartment, Dimitri would have selected to complete his packing preparations. Tonight, Dimitri was leaning over a pool table, taking a few practice shots while he waited for a girl to show up. How things had changed for him.

Pool was a welcome distraction from all the things he would prefer not to think about. Like how he really needed to get Rose to let him have that conversation he felt they needed to have. Maybe when she was distracted by how badly she was losing. Or winning.

Atlas Gym | Thursday

As happy as Dimitri should've been to return to his apartment, today was his last official day opening the gym and it was casting a sad glow over the front desk.

Or maybe that was just Tracy weeping. )

And he would be at the desk, preparing things for the new manager.

Atlas Gym - Tuesday

Rose was in a remarkably good mood for spending the majority of the past 24 hours in the gym. Jessi was in a remarkably good mood too which was disturbing.

At least until Rose realised that Jessi's good mood was based on the understanding that it was Rose's last day at the gym.

Oh, how she loved breaking the news that it wasn't.

Caritas | Friday

After one night sleeping in his office, and one night on a cot that simply wasn't meant for a person his height, Dimitri deserved a drink.

Sadly there was no Chuck there for him to chat with, just a too-happy Tino.

Dimitri didn't want to ask why Tino seemed so happy. He was certain the answer would involve TMI. It was better to listen to the zombie's rendition of music that was NOT Celine Dion. It would work out.

JGOB- Wednesday evening

While the past couple days had been easier than Jaina had thought they would be, she'd come to a disturbing little realization: she hadn't actually been alone for over a year. Even when she'd been the only one in the room, Zekk had always been close enough to share thoughts. Or when he was too far to share direct thoughts, she'd still had the Colony. And while said realization sort of bothered her, it also meant that her quiet little apartment bothered her more.

At least until the new bugs moved in, and hadn't stopped with the damn music. They had no idea what she meant when she kept throat clicking at them to stop, either, or else they didn't care. There was still no temptation to squish, but there was a desperate need to get out of that apartment and get somewhere sane. So she'd headed to JGOB with her datapad, got herself a pastry and something to drink, and parked herself in a window seat for ease of escape in case she heard anything even slightly French Canadian.

Anyone who accused her of humming was getting hit.

[Open, and she could totes use distractions.]
