New Year's Eve Party, A Temporarily Unabandoned Warehouse, New Year's Eve

Signs had been ~~handwavily~~ put up around town throughout the day indicating that this was the place and this was the time. New Year's Eve in Fandom, in one of the abandoned warehouses (although it had been tidied up and decorated). Showgirls carrying champagne flutes, a live band playing, and a big glowy ball hanging from the rafters with a countdown clock displayed.

It was time for G.O.B. Bluth's New Year's Illusionin' Eve! Brought to you by a Host Named G.O.B.! Making his triumphant return to Fandom! Exclamations!

Town Meeting: Town Harder, Town Hall, Town Evening

Sometime in the afternoon, phone calls started coming in to Zoe from the away teams, with messages of success that made her feel more relieved than she had in days. After talking to Harriet and Kerrigan about what they'd been able to accomplish, the plans to finish this fight finally started to come together, and all that seemed to be left to do was inform the town, and gather more volunteers.

Once again, fliers appeared around town and in the dorms, calling everyone who was left together for a second town meeting. Zoe gave the people who arrived some time to get settled and check in with each other, before she got up to speak.

"Thank you all for coming on such short notice," she said. "I'm pleased to say that I have good news to share. All of our travelers have successfully found the information we sent them to search for, and with this information, the administration has come up with two plans: one to stop the angels, and one to bring everyone who's gone missing home."

First, Zoe explained the plan to lure the angels into the preserve ~~which I will not type out again so as to not bore you all~~, and then she opened the floor to Harriet, to explain how the missing persons were being brought back ~~which has its own OCD thread la la la~~.

"What we need now are volunteers to deal with the angels, and to make this plan work. I'm not going to lie to you," she said. "It's going to be dangerous, and I know that my job is to keep the students and teachers out of danger as much as possible. But I also know that if anyone can pull this off, it's the people in this town. If we all work together, we can get rid of this threat, and get our friends and family home. If you have any questions before you volunteer, either Dean Jones or I would be happy to answer them."

[I am in no way ashamed of tonight's post subject. If you're a blinker or teleporter, you can handwave coming to the meeting and volunteering, if you want.]

Caritas, Sunday (1/20)

Another weekend, another bout of weirdness Anders had missed out on completely. Pity his weekends seemed to start out in this state of blissful unawareness that inevitably ended up completely dashed on Sunday nights, didn't it?

That was why Tino had taken to stashing a separate bottle of booze beneath the bar on Sunday nights. Just in case.

Not because he was being nice to Anders -- just because he wanted to be able to mock Anders for having to resort to it, see.

Somewhere On The Streets, Tuesday Morning

Valentine was a juggler. This much was not a secret, of course.

That he had found himself a juggling partner a while back might not have been common knowledge.

That they were both insane enough to attempt to coordinate an act together was probably a given.

That they were going to attempt to juggle chunks of wood wrapped in flaming, gasoline-soaked rags?

...

Well, that was something that might have to be seen to be believed.

Today, Naminé was not alone in opening Fina. There was a tiny, clearly insane chicken (wearing a mask) who insisted on riding along with her everywhere she went. Because otherwise he would peep very, very loudly and teeter close to the edge of whatever she had set him on. This was not at all frustrating. Really.

The Streets of Fandom, Wednesday Afternoon

Valentine was juggling, as Valentines are apt to do. It was his living, after all.

Just wandering up and down the streets. Juggling. Like only a juggler can.

Hoping for someone to maybe throw some coins at him, or, at the very least, fresh vegetables.

Silly juggler.

Friday Evening: Town Hall: Homecoming (8pm - 10pm)

The first thing that might be noticed when students walked into the Town Hall was the towering stone troll statues that had been dragged in to grace the corners of the dance floor. It being Homecoming and a semi-formal dance, the trolls were decked out appropriately in hats, glitter, and togas. Fairy lights were strung across the ceiling, some twined with streamers and some dripping glitter and confetti across the dance floor.

The walls were decorated with blown up pictures of significant events at Fandom: Graduations, the school blowing up, the Christmas pageants, plays, carnivals, zombies, all the moments that make Fandom Fandom. Given a place of honour on the walls were a mock up of an exploding volcano, a massive gremlin in a bow tie, and, of course, the Stickbug flag.

Large lit up snowmen congregated around the punch bowl against a snowy backdrop and across the ballroom near the stage, there was a mural of large dinosaurs reaching up to enjoy a glittery streamer dinner. The wall of the door though had the biggest picture of all - a painting of the island at night from across the water.

As students dropped off their wraps, they were pointed to vote for Homecoming Court then encouraged to proceed into the ballroom.

The Preserve, After Classes, Thursday

What a lovely day to film a movie!

Star Director Valenteen had ~~handwavily~~ put up posters calling for actors and crew, and had even gone so far as to ~~handwavily~~ put little signs up pointing the way to this particular lovely clearing in the preserve.

This was the movie that was going to save his life from a crazy little fairy. He was going to go just a little out of his way this time to make certain there were people involved.

Yes, the movie spectacular about one Faaaaaabulous Miss T. Bell was to come into being today.

All Valentine needed was a cast. And a crew. And a non-whip low-fat soy latte.

Café Fina, Friday: Faculty Appreciation Party

Naminé headed to Fina in the afternoon to help the cheese-grater and pepper-shaker set up.

By early evening, all the tables were in place. There was a long buffet filled with some of Fina's most excellent cuisine, a table or two of hors d'oeuvres, and a bar, which the pepper-shaker felt it was his duty to man.

The cheese-grater stayed by the front door, ready to greet people and assist them, while the plates took up trays of wine or petit fours and prepared to circulate.

The Specials Board read:

Naminé nodded. Now, to wait for their guests.

Pixie Dust, Thursday

One of Tink's fabulous employees, the fabulous Isabel, had gone home to see her (presumably fabulous) family. And so the fabulous Tinker Bell was going to open the fabulous Pixie Dust today instead.

This would possibly make up for the fact that the always-fabulous Tink had been far, far too hung over to come in on her regular fabulous Monday shift. Shhhh, she's the boss, she can do whatever she wants.

"You really don't need to stay," Naminé said. Again. She had said it several times this morning.

"I'll stay until I have to run to class," Valentine insisted stubbornly. He then broke into a grin. "Honestly, I think your staff likes having me around as much as I like being here."

There was food here. And Naminé. Winning combination, that.

Naminé placed a hand over her eyes. "Offering to walk me to work was sweet. Hanging around and giving the cheese-grater all sorts of unpleasant ideas? That's decidedly less sweet. And if you start singing with the plates again I will lock you in the pantry."

Naminé hoped she was a very good bluffer.

The cheese-grater shook his head. "No, mademoiselle, I cannot make sense of it either."

"It's ludicrous," Naminé said. "How can they expect anyone to decipher this mish-mash of legal phrasings and dates? I'm sure we owe them money, but I haven't the telepathic ability to determine the magic number they'd like."

"Perhaps, if we burn the forms, they will forget to send new ones?" the pepper-shaker asked hopefully.

The three looked at one another for a long moment.

(OOC: For newbies: Café Fina's last owner was the fabulous Lumiere, who has departed the island, but some of the cursed staff chose to stay behind in Fandom. The cheese-grater, pepper-shaker, dishes and utensils are all person-sized, sentient, and quite happy to see you - they'll perform musical numbers if you ask. The actual plates you eat off and utensils you use and so on will be normal-sized and inanimate. Sounds fun, right?)

The cheese-grater was manning the door at Café Fina.

Anyone who came in today for lunch, or for dinner, would receive a very lovely lunch or dinner.

Anyone who, on the other hand, leaned in to tell the cheese-grater confidentially, "I'm here for the Art Party," would be ushered into the basement, which was happily weasel-free but did contain an oversize penny, along with other relics of ~~THE BATCAVE~~ an odd type.

If you are here for Fina, please mod your service. If you're here for the Art Party - which is in no way a planning meeting for students who wish to fight against Umbridge - come down to the basement.

The Park, Friday after workshops

The park had been transformed into something looking a little like a circus. Tents were set up all over with things inside each of them for people to see, and there were booths outside for people to get food. Because you can't have a circus without food. Every once in a while there would be a roar from inside a tent or a sound like whatever sound an elephant would make, and random clowns were wandering around to greet unsuspecting passersby.

However, this wasn't any ordinary circus, as rickshaws and golf carts carried spangly-dressed people (who might have looked a little familiar) over to the tents. If they passed by you, you might have heard someone or another on the phone demanding to speak to their agent.

That might be because hanging from the main tent over the entrance is a large banner that reads WELCOME TO THE CIRCUS OF THE ~~moderately well-known~~ STARS!!!

Around Town [Saturday Night]

If you look out your window and spot creatures you've only seen in movies and textbooks, you might think you're dreaming.

50 Minotaur Lane, Wednesday afternoon

The bus was parked outside the house, looking . . . resigned. If a bus could look resigned. Which, apparently, this one could. Ms Frizzle was bouncing more solemnly than usual down the walk to said bus, suitcases and boxes in hand.

The music is playing, the glitter is everywhere and outside the tent, the gondoliers are occasionally bursting into song.

No matter what the weather was on the mainland, the weather over the Fandom had warmed up to a beautiful spring evening, just perfect for a night of dancing.

A large tent had been set up in the park and it glowed with the soft light of what seemed like a million small white lights. The path leading up to the tent crossed a small bridge and then split, one walkway leading up to the tent, the other leading to the pond where a small dock had been set up. Two gondolas were waiting to take anyone who wished to go on a ride around the pond.

Inside the tent, numerous colorful backdrops made it seem like the students had been transported to Saint Mark's Square. The only thing missing were the pigeons.

Off to one side stood a table with a box for the final votes for the Prom Court.

It was time for Prom 2007.
