Lacey was chattery at the kitchen staff today, bouncing all kinds of theme ideas off them.

Or at least she was, until they took off and hid in the alley, taking shameless advantage of the fact that Lacey'd decided to start working out again and was about as maneuverable as a nerf in a child seat moving with less ease than . . . oh, a non-animated suit of slightly rusty armor.

"Guys?" Lacey called plaintively. "Where did you -- hello?"

At least she'd gotten them to do the specials board before she scared them off.

Today's Specials
Clover-Honey Bacon Cornbread
Lemon Chicken Pasta
Caprese Salad

Ender wasn't that focused on his work today, but he did a credible job of faking it.

Between tweaks of metal and flashes of holograms, he was busier looking at the data that had come in last week. Formic porn, Petra had once called it, but it wasn't that. He was learning more about them from every picture of dead bugger bodies, dead bugger ships, empty pupae.

Stark Industries was open. Ender was distracted.

[ I don't know what's up with LJ and swallowing the contents of my posts... open! ]

Hmm. Not only did they finally get the 'e' in the word flower, but now there was an extra one on the end of shop.

Joan shook her head and made sure the other sign was displayed in the window.

Teddy had his iPod going as he organized a batch of Uber-Man from the nineties. When he was made of electricity and two people. Or something.

Nothing quite made sense in the nineties.

He might have been doing a bit of a dorky little dance as he worked. It was all the music's fault, though.

Romeo would be closing early to make it on the Girls with Guns field trip, but it was too close to prom for him to feel comfortable with leaving the store closed for the day. He compromised by opening early and spending much of his time in the store practicing by shooting at the barrel of things to burn with a water pistol full of lighter fluid.

Pixie Dust was open, and not on fire. Yet.

[OOC: The OCD touched the fire, and it froze it.]

Not that Sean didn't love working, but honestly? He figured that maybe there were kids on the island that would want a job. It'd been a while since he'd tossed the sign up into the window, so there it was. Nothing fancy, just a simple Help Wanted.

That done, he settled in at a register with a newspaper.

[Wait for the OCD is up!]

Alex opened up the Magic Box following her class. She moved through the store, making sure things were in order and if anything needed cleaning, she'd take care of it.

Once that was done, Alex settled behind the counter, reciting spells in her head.

The Magic Box was open.

Tony had his laptop with him today. He had planned to study a couple of spells, but ended up playing spider solitaire. He kept being blocked by black twos, though. He wasn't sure if that meant something in the divination sense or if he just sucked at spider solitaire. After a bit, he gave up on the game and started staging the figurines in scenes from Galaxy Quest.

Sokka was bouncing with excitement. He'd started (however slightly) on making a sword, he was all bruised and battered from last night, and TONIGHT there was paintball. Seriously, all kinds of awesome.

Of course, the DOZENS OF CRATES OF JAM that were delivered this morning sort of killed the mood. Oh, well. When life gives you jam, make... jam... ade. Or something.

SALE-TASTIC JAM JAMBOREE!!!
All jam 70% off!
Jam on!

There. Sure, there'd be jam tomorrow, but there was DEFINITELY jam today!

Today's Squishy flavors: Grape Jam Judas, Red Jam, Orange Marmalade

Bender had taken borrowed gathered some narrow strands of wire and dragged a bench over to the side of the paddock. Two of the horses wandered over, curious.

"You stay... there." Bender told one. "And you... over there." To the other.

He started bending shapes into the wire, slowly heading in the direction of vaguely horse-shaped. Quadripedal, at least.

He'd seen that you would not believe the amount of crap people would pay for animal wire art. Bender? Well, from how it currently looked - he'd better be doing it for love not money. Worthless free love.

Things were quiet around the bar as Yondaime and Tino wiped down the counter and the Zombies tuned up their instruments.

...Almost too quiet.

So long as you didn't count the odd twang or squeak from the instruments.

Feeling a rather nice sort of sore in a completely different than usual way, Daisy was content to just mostly be working on deskwork today, and taking advantage of the fact that she and Ralph actually got along to have him kindly refresh her coffee mug on occasion.

She was in a good mood, after a good weekend and a good week, and was just hoping Kowalski didn't leave more dangerously bad-for-you food around the station again.

After the Girls With Guns field trip fiasco had ended, and all of the students who had been involved were seen safely back to the island, Captain Nathan Algren had stood behind to ensure that nothing could manage to follow them through the portal. When the portal finally closed, he had breathed a sigh of relief and turned to head home.

He didn't notice the fragment of chicken bone that had lodged itself into the middle of the portal, jamming a hole in space itself. And, hours later, well after dark, nobody was there to notice a pair of bony hands creeping around the edges of the bone, prying the hole wide open again.

The figure that made his way from that portal, who took the time to make certain that it had, in fact, closed properly behind him, took one look around, curled what was left of his lips back in a cruel sneer, and then made his way through the darkness into the preserve.

They'd resisted his children, in that mall. But they would have a far more difficult time resisting him here, where there was so much more life for him to reach out, grab, and destroy.

Fandom Island would be his.

[NFI, NFB, establishy like whoa. Zombies will officially show up on Wednesday!]

It was a damn good thing that the curry Chad made last night was good because there was a lot of it left.

So much so that, today and today only, Groovy Tunes was offering a very...interesting special.

Special Sale.
Free Bowl of Spicy, Spicy Curry with each purchase of a CD.

He had to get rid of it somehow.

Today's Mix: Couldn't Be More Random If I Tried
