There.

Ino stared down at her notes for a long while, a bit dubious that she’d actually come up with something that might work. But—rereading her calculations and double-checking her theories made everything seem sound.

Now she just had to... figure out how to test it. Closing her notebook deliberately, she glanced around the store and figured, well, why not? She could clean today. Testing definitely wasn't going to happen here.

And cleaning would give her time to think. Ino didn’t mind the lemon scent of the cleaners. They were soothing for all that they were pretty strong.

It was a dull day as far as Layla was concerned. She had finished doing her regular duties at the store and was now sitting behind the counter trying to balance a pencil on her index finger.

For some strange reason she kept suppress the urge to drink gallons of coffee and smack people in the back of the head when they get out of line. And then possibly take down a terrorist or two.

Weird.

The weather had improved a bit from yesterday, which helped lift Lion-o's mood. The fact that the cook had figured out a way to combine ribs and grilled cheese sandwiches? That was even more helpful. In between serving customers, Lion-o was polishing off another sandwich.

When Hannibal got to work, the zombie band was playing some song that Hannibal didn't recognize. It was catchy though. And Tino seemed completely and utterly taken with it if the way he was shuffling and swaying behind the bar was any indication.

The seventh time the band played the song, Hannibal was even moving a bit to the music. He was going to be so damned earwormed the rest of the night. Hopefully he didn't ask any unwilling bar patron if their sex was on fire.

Maybe he'd make Tino do it.

There'd been letters from Corus that morn and even if she'd read them all instantly, Beka'd brought them with her to work. Once her tasks were finished and there was naught to keep her busy, she settled behind the desk to reread. A letter from her Lord, telling her of Jane Street Kennel and the Dogs. How Willes was faring as a messenger and Nilo did well with the horses and news of her sisters. Kora and Aniki had written a letter of their own, as had Tansy, and they brought different news. Some of which Beka was certain she'd been better off not knowing.

The small note of Rosto made her pause, and she could not imagine him writing it to begin with. It made no sense at all as he mentioned what he couldn't have known. She shook her head and tucked them all away. Mayhap there was more cleaning that needed to be done.
