MCA Lobby, [6/23]

Cally was absolutely antsy today, going about and tidying the MCA lobby even when everything was in its right place.

She'd left Nicky at the new daycare at the community center. And she was going out of her mind with worry. She'd done it before, long work days on the Galactica, but here it was different. Here, he was all she truly had left, and he meant so much to her.

She'd be grateful if someone stopped in, or a building emergency would happen to save her from her own mind.

After her morning class, Raven headed into town to 'Dite's shop, hoping to find it all back to normal. Well, as "normal" as the store ever was. But she was dismayed to find it was still the same as it had been Monday night when she'd picked up Karla, and she could still sense the lingering storm of negative emotions. She took a hesitant step inside, looking around for 'Dite. "Hello?" she called out. "Lady Aphrodite?"

Snipped for brief preplay. )

Raven was torn between the urge to just flee and the fear of making 'Dite even more upset. The rage she was sensing from her was overpowering, and it took all her shielding to keep it from affecting her. Maybe if she stayed she could figure out a way to help Aphrodite and alleviate her anger. Something was terribly wrong, and it wasn't in her to just walk away and ignore the situation, no matter how embarrassed she was.

In the meantime, 'Dite's Decadent Delights was open, and the empath was doing her best to hide behind the counter.

Luke's Diner, Wednesday

Somebody kicked a soccer ball at him when Lion-o entered the diner. Once he recovered from the surprise, Lion-o realized that the cook and busboy were wearing soccer jerseys and had decked the diner out in red, white and blue decorations. They had another jersey for him to wear, and based on how well he caught the ball, they wanted Lion-o to wear the goalkeeper's gloves, too.

Gwynn and the horses had decided that it was really just too bloody hot out to do very much.

Therefore, afetr feeding and brushing them, Gwynn had been kind enough to wet the horses down thoroughly so they could get some relief.

Now, they were all in the shaded barn and Gwynn was wondering how hard it would be to convince Dani to put in some air conditioning units in the barn.

The Gig was open.

The Magic Box (6/23)

Armed with an iced cold drink, settled in behind the counter of the Magic Box.

Mitchell turned the little blue disk over in his hands. It was encased in plastic, and still smelled like the rubbish bin he'd taken it out of in the short few minutes before his portal arrived.

He shouldn't have it. He should've just left it to rot there.

But a part of him? That part he'd claimed to have forsaken for humanity? It didn't-- he couldn't.

He studied it until the bored server set down his coffee and muttered something about milk and dollar prices, and then he set it aside, took his drink, and sipped from it as he stared out the window. Lauren. The blood. Somewhere out there--

Why did things always have to get complicated?

Uhura was feeling mopey. Class earlier in the week had made her think too much about all her doubts and fears regarding going into space eventually. Having your dreams examined closely kind of sucked.

She did her usual tidying up of the shop and checked the hats on display. Then she dragged a stool outside and sat by the door.

The Imperial Brim is open, albeit with a sad shop mistress today.

When Hannibal wandered into worked, he stopped dead at the sight of Tino in full hockey gear, complete with helmet, gloves and stick. The only thing he wasn't wearing were the skates and he'd made up for that by draping them on the bar.

"Hockey's a stupid sport and you're stupid too," Hannibal said very maturely, coming back behind the bar and smacking Tino's helmeted head. "If I wanted to stick my puck in a net, I'd go have sex."

Tino spent the rest of the night pissed. And in hockey gear.

Alex was in a foul mood today. She was not working on the finals for tomorrow. She was working on annulments in the commonwealth of Virginia.

No one ever bothered defining "marriage in jest," which might very well be their only option. Short of either or both claiming diminished capacity due to illegal substances ...

Cabot and Associates was open, if distracted.

Alice felt strangely pensive today. Most of her musical selections had to do with endings, beginnings, and the overlap inbetween.

Dinah didn't seem to mind.

K-Mart was definitely on her own today; Sean occasionally wandered in to see how things were going, but today he was busy unpacking, which meant K-Mart would be by her lonesome all day.

This was... Not that different from the usual, aside from the fact that she definitely wouldn't get caught rearranging things today. Which, of course, was why she wasn't rearranging everything.

Instead, she was puttering around the store with a cart, picking up everything that was someplace it didn't go. Yay, cleaning!

Atlas Gym - Wednesday

There was a duck inside the gym. Beka'd no idea how it got there, but Jessi was standing on top of the weight machine squealing for someone to save her. Beka thought the duck needed more saving.

At least, she thought so until the sarden bird tried to eat her fingers. Jessi took the chance to escape into the locker rooms where she locked herself up. there was little loss there.

"You could help," she scolded her cat as she tried to chase the duck towards the exit.

It flew on top of the counter instead, knocking papers and pens to the floor.

What would be the fun in that? Pounce asked, snickering.

She wrinkled her nose and wished she'd brought her pigeon feed with her. Mayhap she could catch it under a towel.
