The phones in the station kept ringing and the reports kept piling up. Missing person reports, missing pets and reports about big assed bugs and creepy men lurking about.

It didn't take a scientist to figure out Something Was Up. There were Troopers already out patrolling and Reese was going to join in. She checked her gun and her back-up gun and--

There was a chuckle and out of the corner of Reese's eye she saw something or someone move, she turned back-up gun in hand in the direction of whatever it was she saw but there was nothing there. Ralph looked in her direction and tilted his head in inquiry. It must have been her imagination, the reports just made Reese jumpy.

"It's nothin'," she told Ralph. She returned her attention to her back-up piece and holstered it. "I really should have requested for a bigger gun."

Sophie had gotten out her gun and loaded it, settling herself carefully in her apartment above the gallery for the duration. Should anyone need to come in, she'd buzz open the front doors from up above, but until then? She was staying one story above the fray, thank you.

And really hoping those cockroach things didn't approach her building. Or that her building wouldn't just be erased from everything, suddenly.

[open, especially to students, but I won't be back 'til 7pmEST.]

Things were worsening quickly. The machinery under the island remained broken and the results of that malfunction were being felt island wide. The rips in reality, the rips that had taken so many friends and loved ones yesterday, continued to wreak havoc today.

The island...the island was changing. Where there had once been soft grass, there now existed dead, harsh grass and weeds that were unforgiving and unkind to those that passed through. The lakes and ponds were now bubbling, muck filled swamps, letting off noxious steam every so often.

Decay started to emerge from the rips, making small things crumple and wither before your eyes. The rips expanded and the inky black tendrils reached out to take away the wooded area, blacking out the Onsen and the Haunted Mansion; the community center and the movie theatre were yanked unceremoniously away by smaller, newer cracks. The rift that took some of the restaurants expanded slowly, devouring the boardwalk and sliding into the sea. In its wake existed darkness. Only darkness. The rips still wanted more. They continued expanding, stretching, reaching, never stopping.

From those rips, things emerged. Grotesque, gruesome monsters that felt at home in a decaying environment, groaners and creepers and scorpions and centaurs and grey children too. Those that hadn't disappeared wouldn't be left alone. The island continued to suffer.

[[ new monsters have joined us, the unexplored wooded area, the boardwalk the community center and the movie theater have gone! first posts will be going up in [livejournal.com profile] fh_adventures soon. ]]

Pixie Dust, Friday

Jenny, who couldn't be bothered to open the store when everything was peaceable, was here promptly now that the island seemed to be going crazy, and could be seen bustling about inside the store, fussing with the displays in between smoke breaks.

As far as she was concerned, a hole in reality wouldn't dare to swallow her store.

Pixie Dust was open. Jenny was, yes, more than a little cracked.

The store was still there.

Good!

Not that the little Endless had noticed much of anything; she had made her way from her cabin to the town lost in whatever wacky thoughts she had, unadvertedly walking around the gaps in Fandom and making more than one narrow escape without even looking at the floor. Really, it was close to being a normal day for her but

(Didi was missing)

Delirium lifted her head from the counter. The thought hadn't crossed her mind yet, but yes, she couldn't feel Didi on the island. she couldn't feel a number of people in the island. That made her sad.

Everyone was having an adventure without her, so they better got her souvenirs.

Groovy tunes was open, let's hope no rabid dog tries to enter the store.

[No OCD, and lies, if anyone wants to hide from the Groaners or anything else that's creepy inside of the store, do so!]

Arya was relieved to find the store was still standing when she arrived. She'd heard the radio last night and wasn't taking any chances, hence why she had her sword (and a few other weapons hidden) on her.

She'd taken a few of those cockroaches on her way in and would occasionally look out the store window to see if anything else was near her store. Arya wasn't against defending it, if need be. She wasn't sure the sign was needed today but she decided to put it up anyway, if only to provide a small sense of normalcy.

"Well. This is inconvenient."

Kerrigan glared across the broken causeway in annoyance. Or maybe not broken: just... absent, where its most essential pavement should be. The large black crack that ran through it looked a lot like an unbridgable gap.

She pursed her lips. Perfectly still.

The illusion of human skin faded away in an instant, and then there was movement; she twisted around, lashing out with a single bone wing and stabbed straight through the armor of an approaching radscorpion, as if she was sticking a knife into a stick of butter. The thing made an inhuman noise as it twisted underneath the force of it, pinned to the ground.

She pulled her wing out just as abruptly. "Amateurs," she muttered, reaching for her wingtip with a single hand. She licked the oozelike blood from her fingers. "Radiation always has such predictable results. Useless."

The dead radscorpion did not reply. But behind it, from the shadows, came more creatures, dogs and mutants, menacing and dangerous.

Kerrigan was unmoved. She was a better breed of monster.

[[ open if anyone wants to join her in slaughtering them... or more likely, watch her make short work of it ]]

The research had to be completed quickly. There was no time for double and triple checking things. The island was beginning to disappear quicker and quicker, blackness swallowing giant chunks of land.

It was time to do something about it. The researchers had a theory but they weren't sure if they were right. That meant a trip. As one, the group of researchers started down towards the island's powerful device. They'd found that it controlled many movements of the island in the past so the theory was that it might have something to do with this.

It was the best shot they had.

Along the way, the Fandomite research team would not have an easy time. The landscape of Fandom was changing rapidly. There were gaping black maws where buildings once stood. There were swamps where water once glistened and there were monsters emerging left and right.

This was not going to be an easy trip but it was needed. It was time to go.

[OCD is coming up! This is posted early for great SP funtimes!]

There were all sorts of ugly critters roaming around outside, but the lobby of the Arms Hotel was safe. That's because Mary was patrolling the entrance. Any creatures that got too close made for good target practice. It seemed that safe places to stay were more important than food today, which is why Mary had persuaded Gunther to leave the kitchen and keep watch over the hallways.

Welcome to the Arms Hotel
We are still here!

"So do we have any idea what it is we're looking for?" Dru asked as they entered the shop and flicked on the lights. "Or is this a case of paging through books and hoping we get lucky?"

She waited until the other two girls had entered the store then shut and locked the door. There were enough weird things out there that she didn't want to take any chances of something following them into the store.

This was probably not going to end well. )

When Rick opened his door this morning, he took one good, long look around and closed it very quickly thereafter.

Then he pulled out his cell and hit the quickdial. "Hey, Alexis, honey, I might need to make a rain-check on that visit. Could you put your grams on?"

[For one, then open post is open for anyone in need of a place to hole up from teh rips and creepy. Minor OCD coming up.]

Anakin was looking a little grubby and a lot pissed off as he yanked his lightsaber out of the chest of what had been a scorpion-looking thing (and hello, unwanted memories of the start of the Clone Wars) and made a final check to be sure the pieces weren't going to slide together and reform or something equally disgusting.

"I hate August," he grumbled to himself before continuing on his walk.

Dinah had her eskrima, a gun, and her knives from Arthur. Hearing about some of the things out here had her possibly a little over-weaponed.

Then again, what were you supposed to do against big dark areas of nothing?

"Any suggestions on where to start?"

[for the Blue Beetle, although open if anyone's wandering around this part of town]
