Ino was—fidgety—when she got to work. Zack was gone, which was depressing and yet something she was fine with all at the same time which made for a conflicted opinion over all. He was a warrior, obviously they couldn’t be glued at the hip all the time, right? Right.

Not, she thought ruefully, that she was sticking around either. Not after the phone call she’d gotten from her Dad that morning.

Maybe it was for the best that Zack wasn’t around, really, as she wasn’t going to be around either and the thought of going back home was making her feel positively ill while she fussed needlessly with the flowers and absently cleaned the counter.

It was cruel, almost, for her Dad to have booked her portal for half an hour after she got off work and for him to tell her before work.

It was going to be a very very long day.

The Arms Hotel Lobby, Tuesday [10/12]

The annoying traveling sales rep had checked out and was long gone, or so Mary thought. She'd repeatedly told him that she wasn't interested in buying new vending machines for the hotel. Imagine Mary's surprise when new ones purchased by Gunther arrived during her shift on Tuesday.

Gunther started babbling when he realized Mary was glaring at him. He kept repeating the highlights of the sale rep's pitch, pointing out all the cool new benefits of the vending machine. "Fine, Gunther," said Mary, cutting him off by raising her hands. She didn't need the sales pitch again. "I'm letting you keep the profits from the vending machine, but the cost is coming out of you paycheck, and you have to be in charge of keeping it stocked."
