Today was Jack's first day on the job. He thought maybe the people working today would show him the ropes, but that train of thought went out the window when the kitchen staff tried to convince him that anyone with a Y in their name got a 50% discount.

He'd worked in a diner before and knew he could figure it out.

Today's Specials
Jambalaya Sandwiches
Chicken Wings with Salsa Verde
Chocolate Quesadillas

Luke's was open!

You'd think Lacey ought to have been frustrated by the sudden influx of rose petals all over her diner, just on account of the mess they made.

Oh, no. Lacey thought they were downright adorable. Filling up two drawers of her cash register, sure, but adorable -- and they made such a nice decoration for the dessert case, and maybe she could come up with some creative plating arrangements today, and, and, and . . .

Today's Specials
Provençal Chicken and Tomato Roast
French Onion Soup
Broccoli Soup with Leeks and Thyme

NOW HIRING - See Manager for Details
Friday and Saturday shifts available!

Luke's is open, and brewing with rose-scented plans. Fear.

[OOC: The OCD is allergic to the rose petals, though. Diner open, usual possible-SP warnings apply.]

"Did you find them, then?"

Ralph had found the paperwork Angua had requested, but he seemed to hesitate before handing over the manilla folder. Angua fixed a warning eye on him as she took it from him. "Don't give me that look," she told him. "You knew I'd be asking for these eventually."

At least, though, she knew that filling out the paperwork for her transfer back to the Ankh-Morpork City Watch would be significantly less complicated than the paperwork she'd gotten accustomed to here with the Fandom Troopers.

Or, at least, it would be, if she wasn't interrupted by Ralph's constant frowns of disapproval. She knew they were there, even with the helmet. "Don't worry," she assured him. "As soon as I have this done, I promise, I'll make sure I'll gripe at you enough today to hold you over until my replacement comes in."

That, at least, seemed to satisfy him for the time being."

The battle between the lingerie and the snow gear continued, but with the addition of the rose petals that kept appearing everywhere, no matter how many times Makita swept them out the front door.

So, when life gives you rose petals, you make giant rose petal piles and jump off the counter into them a few times. Makita was curious to see how big a pile she could manage by the end of the day.

Pixie Dust was open, with Jenny's sign still in the window:
15% OFF
ANYTHING THAT'S NOT PINK OR RED.

The house phone was ringing off the hook today at the hotel. Half of the guests loved the rose petals and wanted to know how to get more; the other half were violently allergic to flowers and needed them removed right away.

As for Quinn, she was just getting an itchy nose from the perfume. She loved the smell of roses -- but in small doses, please.

It made for a distracting day.

Welcome to the Arms Hotel!
Today's Specials: Guacamole with Chips
Spicy steak and corn tacos

[OOC: Open and very floral hotel!]

There were rose petals in the kegs.

Rose petals.

In the kegs.

"Fandom, you are shaggin' ridiculous," Jake said aloud to no one.

Most people would assume that the rose petals were romantic. Dani looked at the trail of rose petals leading into the barn and wondered if someone was pulling a joke on her.

"These kinds of things happen on this island," she tried to explain the Clyde. "But next time, if you see someone scattering rose petals all over my barn, you need to kick him hard."

The Gig was open!

Even Claudia could only take so much computer time, so rather than working on her current pet project (she was so close!), she was leaning back behind the counter, throwing pencils at the ceiling.

It was probably a really good thing she was wearing her goggles, considering the fact that not a single one of those pencils managed to stick in the ceiling.

Book Haven was open.

If it wasn't fruit, Ender reflected, then the absolute second most annoying thing the island had to find to throw at him in the store was rose petals. They got in everywhere, necessitating Ender to grab a crate and start just dumping them all in so that by the end of the day, he had enough of a collection to swim in.

Not that he was exactly interested in that.

About an hour or so in, he collapsed back onto his chair, feeling exhausted, and booted up his laptop. )

With an irritated noise, he shut his laptop and got up so he could clear away more flower petals.

Alex settled in with coffee and a couple of magazines. She was armed with sticky tabs to mark all of the things she thought were cute. That was probably going to take a while.

The Magic Box is open.

Once again, Jonothon had a guitar and a kitten at the job, today.

The trouble with having both with him was that he kept losing the kitten under what appeared to be snow drifts of rose petals, and so he'd only get halfway through anything on his guitar before he'd have to clear a spot free of petals in order to scout around for her.

Not that he minded digging around to rescue Joni, really. Except that once he found her, the petals had almost definitely drifted along back to cover the guitar, and so in the time that he took to dig it out again, there went Joni, mewling from wherever she'd gotten buried...

It was going to be one of those days.

[Oh yeaaaah, it's Monday, isn't it? Open!]

There were rose petals all over everything.

Medusalith approved. It was like some sort of grand event where they were showered with flowers and praise, only it was the whole town and no one had praised her yet. They should get on fixing that. In the meantime, she would be here, cleaning the petals off the art.

The gallery was open.

((Monday, Monday, can't trust that day.))
